Keep on reading on the forum that transmission on the TR need upgrading when power gets up.

As a matter of curiosity, up to how many HP is the transmission good ? Is the transmission on the 512 TR and/or M interchangeable with the Testa one and is any upgraded transmission available on the market ?

    Tks

I think they are interchangable as the block is the same or very similair

Yes they are out there but plan on US$15k-20k and you have to hunt for one

I put a 512M tranny in my 86 TR. Got it from T Rutland (through Ferrari of Central Florida).

    Gianni,
Yes this can and has been done. In 2001 I successfully re & re'd a '95 512M gear box into my '88 TR - I purchased the 512M gearbox from Brighton Valley Autobreakers in the IK (check with other exotic wreckers)for approx 10-12K (Cdn funds). UPS shipping costs were an additional $1500. Import duties another $500 and then $4,000 more for the mechanic to remove and replace. My mechanic said the only small hiccup with this install was that one of the bolts on the gear box did not line up exactly with one of the screw holes in the engine mount (so it had to be re-threaded). Other than this small 'blip' everything went very smoothly.

By the way this new 512M gearbox is very very smooth, strong and reliable.

    aw.
