i am in a tough situation. my boxer has been in a shop being worked on at a snails pace. after two years of me funding some a$$holes shop w/ my car repairs, i finally snapped! he told me to come get my car. the car is not completed and the rear cam shell is not yet attached. question is how do i transport the clam shell w/o damaging it?

btw, when/if i am safey able to get my car out...i will write a full account of my experience w/ this guy. you won't believe me when tell you however!

this is a nightmare and you just won't imagine the money i have spent to date. i litterally feel sick.

The best thing would be to bolt it back on. Two guys can do it together quite easily. But if it's a ***** fight, take your own tools and just 2x 25mm long 8mm bolts (13mm spanner size) with nuts and washers.

Make sure it's closed properly if it's on an open tow truck.

Sorry to hear this Peter being in Cali you should report this guy to the BAR.

They transported my rear deck lid in the back of a small pick up at the paint shop to the different annex when having it color sanded after paint, don't know how they did it but its very light but its wider than the bed of this truck so it must have been angled in it, I wouldn't transport it in a small truck myself however if they scratched it they could fix it.

The lids do bend very easily and dent as well, when realigning the gaps perfectly on it the bodyshop owner literally grabbed the edge of it and pushed/bent the edge in with a few well placed pushes, interesting to watch.

If you don't have a full size truck I would rent a U haul truck, strap it in securely and cover it with blankets or a moving pad, Ferrarifixer is right you can put it back on with 2 people but taking out of this guys shop with him standing their watching over you may cause you to do something in haste as its a delicate operation.

Give me a call today or PM me your ph no.

Also, rest the lid on a pad and I would get some masking tape or the green painters masking tape that removes easily and tape along all of the bottom corners or the lid as it will rest on it in the truck and if it moves it doesn't scratch or chip anything, be sure and make a list of everything to get also that he may have removed such as the wing, rear light covers, shocks, etc., some of these parts are very hard to find and expensive.

I know someone who took his boxer in running on 11-cylinders. One year later it was running on 6. At the end of the 2nd year it was running on 12 again, but didn't start very well....I don't know if he's gotten it back yet (starting year number 3).

Get your buddies, your car, get all your parts and get out of the shop as fast as possible.

I would not think having the shop owner there while you bolt on a part is an expeience I'd be looking for.

Boxers are special to me, i hope you get this all worked out, then we can fry the guy as a community for messing with one of our own!

thank you for all your advice folks. i have the bonnett on the car now and it went on mucheasier than i had thought or worried it might.

fit is proper, operation and fit correct...no chips whatsoever!!

i do have a question...durring the replacement the only mishap was one of the tail (Brake) lens cmae off.

i wonder what the proper glue is used to re affix to the car?

the heat is an issue and when i put it back on, i want to be sure it will stay on and not fall off while on the road! i bet it is a hard part to replace!

    thanks again for your help.

Get your car out of there ASAP. It is unfortunate to hear these stories. -
Everyone usually has a story like this to tell. I paid for work at shop X, that was not even done. He had no problem taking my 3K+ check. It is really fun to drop in, and buy 3 batteries AGAIN, (in the middle of nowhere) for the same problem (that was supposed to be corrected). A broken alternator that was never rebuilt.

Hang in there. I hope everything works out well.

what a tough feeling to endure...your boxer is in pieces and you know it is being held hostage effectively!

well, now the car is in tact and safe. in as much as i have had a bad outing...the car remains as it was when taken into the shops possesion and still lovely!

17k later...guess it had better be!!

ralph, any experience w/ the tail lens falling off?? what type of adhesive to use?

I have only had my BBi for about four months. The tail lenses have not fallen out. Perhaps someone was thinking of the Italian World Cup team, when he installed your lamps ?

The lenses actually whole light units are the same as many other Ferraris 308s and 328s for sure and they are not that expensive I think from
Ferrari UK about $50 each, otherwise a good plastic glue epoxy should work well.
