I have been checking out shipping arrangements for a Ferrari and have received quotes from Instant Auto Transport out of Redding CA. Has anyone dealt with them? Is there any recommendations or any shippers to avoid? I would be having the car shipped from Conn. to WV. Thanks Charley

I just bought a testarossa in Phoenix on the 20th of December and arranged transport with Reliable. The car was picked up the next day and arrived in Indiana on the 24th in perfect condition. The drivers called me 3 times to let me know where they were and how things were going. We had a big snow storm duing that time but they still got it here with out much delay. $1026.00 for the one way trip.

I called Gary. He's booked up. Referred me to Jonathan Peck who referred me to Autobahn. They're picking up the car on Wednesday. Will keep you all informed on how it turns out.

It's a real tough time of the year to try and more cars around the country. Most of the transporters are booked up with cars going to Arizona for the auctions or Florida for Cavallino.

I just had my Alfa shipped down from MA to VA via Fed-X (Passport Transport). They're not the cheapest, but there are lots of companies that do fine when all goes well. Passport has been reported (in the (lost?) archives here) to make it right when things don't go well.

And surprisingly, the driver knew how to start a 25 year old Spica injected Alfa. ;)

(I thought for sure I was going to have to pay the $100 extra for "non-running" cars.)

They were the most expensive of all of the companies I contacted.

    problem with Autobahn transport is

they don't have trucks with lift gates, so they basically use the power of the car to load it. (i know first hand about those guys)
it's steep up those ramps, and they burn the heck out of your clutch getting up those ramps (and back down).
another problem with autobahn is they "might" depot your car (even though they say they don't)
    which means
it'll be unloaded and then reloaded again
burning up the clutch multiple times

another problem is they say they have satellite tracking.
then when you call them to find out about your car, they have to beep the driver
(maybe they've moved up to cell phones now, who knows)

wait until you see the truck they bring it in,
it's an old las vegas moving van half painted half primered, paint chipping everywhere, mismatched cab, inside looks aweful

    hope it works out

I've used them and they are great. Very responsive and absolutely top notch rigs and drivers. These guys carry some major league exotics around this country. They will do a great job for you.
