    Anyone been to the himalayan region?

    Flying into Katmandu in Mid- late April.

    Would like to head to the high country and see different vantage points of the himalayas. Maybe make it to Everest's base camp. Will be bringing the cameras.

    How do most get around? I am guessing that renting a 4 wheel drive truck is not very common. Will have 2 weeks. What do you all recommend for spots that I don't want to miss?

    Are there air taxis to see the peaks close up or drop off trekkers? Where can you stay in the high country? Do I need to bring a tent or are there other possibilities?

    Any good web links that you have experience with?

    I've been to Katmandu and flown by Everest on Buddha Air

    You should find out what the status is on the Maoist rebels and what kind of wildlife there is about before planning on driving yourself or camping
