Good day, everyone. I'll be travelling to Switzerland in June of this year for 7-10 days. Home base will be Rheinfelden. I plan a day trip to Mulhouse to see the Schlumpf museum - are there any other things you can recommend a car nut should see? Also, any other travel advice of a general nature would be most welcome. Many thanks, Neil
Never, ever exceed speed limits! In Switzerland you will be in serious troubles when, not if, you will be cought. Ciao Eugenio
The best thing to do in Switzerland in the summer is hire a car with some decent handling (an MX5 for instance) and head up into the mountains and passes. There are always lots of other car related things going on like the Arosa Bergrennen 01. - 03. September and the Klausenrennen 21-24 September, but unfortunately not while you're here. http://www.klausenrennen.com/start.asp http://www.arosa.ch/de/navpage.cfm?category=EventsAT&subcat=EventsSAT&id=40830#
Come on guys. Why is everybody thinking Switzerland is that expensive? I can name some cities that are way more expensive than Switzerland in terms of hotels, food, restaurants, cars, clothes etc... London Paris New York Tokyo I live in Geneva and I know very well it is not that expensive. I also did live in London and Paris. After the introduction of the Euro, Switzerland became way cheaper than Europe, specially France. Try buying a car in France and you'll end up paying (about) 17% VAT. In Switzerland however, it's only 7.6%. Same thing apply for clothes and all consumer goods. The only things expensive in Switzerland are those fancy restaurants and hotels. Yet, even if you tried to compare them to fancy places in Europe, Switzerland will end up being cheaper still.
