The Triangle Italians will be gathering on Saturday, February 5th for the monthly Cars-n-Coffee. We will be meeting at our regular place (Brier Creek Commons) at the junction of Highway 70/Glenwood Ave and Interstate 540 @ 9:00AM.

Breakfast and coffee is a short walk to either Caribou Coffee or Bruegger's Bagels.

For those in the Cary / Morrisville / Apex area, we'll meet at Leith Volkswagen (back near Mercedes Benz) around 8:15AM and caravan from there...always a great drive.

Several post Cars-n-Coffee ideas have been proposed:
Option 1: Allen & Son BBQ...no explanation required.

Option 2: Drive to Vivace in north Raleigh for some good Italian food, brew, and wine.

Option 3: Drive to Pinehurst to Dugans or the Darling House Pub.

We look forward to seeing all the area Italians out and about!

sorry, couldn't resist. Looking forward to it.

Someone must have an in-car video setup!

    BBQ it is!

We'll plan to pull out between 10:30 and 11AM. We need to come up with a scenic route to drive.

Which Allen & Sons? There's one north of Chapel Hill off I-64 and one on 15-501 in Chatham county. (and maybe more).

I received a hi-def GoPro video cam for Christmas. I promise to learn how to use it before the drive.

I was thinking of the one off of 15/501. If its the concensus that the other location is closer, better parking, etc...then I'm game.

Chapel Hill gets my vote. The "remote" ambiance is more authentic.

My car is online again. I don't mind putting together a scenic route to the 15-501 Allen & Son. Just let me know :):).

turns out my sister is coming into town that weekend. and she knows not a thing (nor cares) about cars. Nor does she know I'll have a new Italian beauty in my garage at that time. So normally she would not attend this event. But as she is a late sleeper, I will get up early and bust out to Raleigh to meet you guys. And then return to Allen & Sons on 15-501 ...which is oh-so-conveniently located just five minutes from my house.

She can meet us at the restaurant. Even my non-car-loving sister should get a kick out of a bunch of fine Italian machinery.

    or the barbecue. ;)

    Greg,

If you have something planned let me know. Otherwise, I will contact Allen & Sons tomorrow to let them know we are coming and will have a scenic route planned for Saturday leaving 10:30 - 11:00am and will bring handouts.

This ride will be to the Allen & Sons off 15-501 near Bynum which is north of Pittsboro and south of Chapel Hill. (The other one is off NC86.)

p.s. Y'all sure you don't want to go to the original Allen & Sons in the cinderblock hut off Exit 266?

LOL... yes I am off by one week! Thanks.

The location you refer to off exit 266 is at Blackwood Station. I believe it burned to the ground a few years ago and I haven't been there since it was rebuilt.

I have many fond memories visiting the original Allen & Sons at that location.

I think the drive would be more scenic to the other location. And I think the parking would be better at the 15-501 location if we have a crowd.

In terms of heading back to Winston it's not too far from there down to Pittsboro and then you could take NC87 to get back up to 40. Or take 64 to 421 and up to Greensboro.

Or, if you want some nice back roads, I know some thru Chatham county that will get you back to I-40 near Greensboro.

The weather is starting to look lousy for Saturday. Are we going "rain or shine" ?
