Has anyone heard or purchased one of these for their bike or car? TricPlate is an electronic switchable license plate frame for cars and motorcycles. With the push of a button, your license plate is unreadable. I discovered a distributor for these. Average price is a little hefty, at approx. $375.

Yes, they are liquid crystal type and change with the application of a little current.

Covers on plates is illegal in IL and for $375 a pop, why not just pay the $0.40 toll.

My buddy bought something for his Vette in which at the touch of a button, the plate will retract from being vertical on the front bumper. It glides underneath the front bumper where it lays horizontally. When it's retracted, there is nothing on the front bumper since the hardware is underneath.

If you get caught with anything that is used to obscure your plate to avoid tolls, they'll suspend your driver's license in IL. For .40, it's not worth it. You would be better going with my post above.

I still see cars with covers nearly every time I drive. Frankly, if a person can't pay the 40 cent toll, which by the way is cheap compared to Houston, they shouldn't be driving.

As Adam has said, I think this might be more of the direction that Rick was going, ie: PhotoRadar and red light cameras.

Rick didn't say anything about cheating on the toll road, that was JohnnyS.

This would make some sense in Europe where you have all the automated radar cameras, but I don't see much use of it for here. The few red light cameras we know by now and skipping the toll is really silly IMHO.

Problem with Europe is, that they would probably quarter you if they catch you (and it would be the wrong size of the plate to begin with).

I saw some ads for it on ebay and its cute how they claim that the purpose is to protect your privacy at a car show, but have a pic of a cop with a laser gun...
