Tried to order 2017 F12...told no luck

There is a wealth of information here on what to expect in the F12'M' which will probably be called something like Daytona and be a substantial change from the F12, akin to the FF to the Lusso. N/A for sure, no Kers, that will wait until 2020 and rather than repeat 800HP, AWS etc, probably easiest to read the thread.

In simple terms expect a major refresh and a wise man would confirm his order position-I hear the demand is already very high.

 

If you absolutely want a new car, then it may be possible to order a 70th anniversary car which is pretty well loaded options-wise but still a 100k premium over the base car. I believe they are among the last to leave the current F12 production line. There is a big population of low miles standard cars out there if you are flexible on spec. Good luck.

That's quite normal in the UK anyway, just ask him to guarantee you an early car now but no doubt he will have other well established customers ahead of you.

 

I was also told by the dealer that the f12m will have some electric assist.

 

I don't get this. Quite a few dealers seem to have come up with this idea, illogical as it sounds and I will put my neck on the line and say it's utter nonsense. That is coming in 2020.

To add batteries to this car, with an existing chassis design, together with the added weight just does not make sense. It would be totally non Ferrari and non productive to do a half way house job, forcing some form of battery power into a chassis not designed to accept it. Add to it that the LF has to be plugged in when not in use and I understand if left unplugged for a week or so requires new batteries at approx $100k, demonstrates there is work still to be done for this technology to go into a production car. In short, no way but yes in 2020 with the new modular chassis and to me it is yet again ill informed dealership speculation.

Also, this is a mid life, not a new car, and it would be a huge and unnecessary leap for that.

 

Orders for F12B's ended in May.

I agree with Traveller's points.

If you're not an existing customer you might find it will be some time until you can get an allocation. If its just a 3 year run, it could be not until the last year. You may want to consider looking for a nice pre owned car via the dealer and then get in the line for speccing your own.

I ws told only last week I could order a 2017 car, [ with a small discount] this was confirmed from Ferrari North Europe. This may be because it would have been RHD? I decided not to wait and bought a used one instead and left a letter of intent with the dealer for a 2018 car.

I have noticed here that a lot of dealers talk a LOT of ****, but they're not really in the loop so much as some of our well connected members here (who kindly share information with us at times...though this information does go largely ignored, lol).

F12m will have 6.5 V12, not turbo's, no KERS.

And it'll be bloody excellent. I can't wait for the reveal, I'm very excited about this car.

 

I have found than a consistent contributor/reader on FChat is routinely more knowledgeable than the dealership in these matters - even more than the dealership's general mangers that visit Maranello. I think the reason is that we actually spend our own money on the next model and really care about the changes - large and small. The dealership sells cars regardless of the changes. Also found that some salespeople know very little about their own product.
