My trip odometer will not reset when I turn the knob. Used to work, now doesn't. What are the usual causes and fixes and how difficult? Thank you.
The reset is operated by a flex cable that transfers the turning motion of the reset knob to the internals of the instrument. Where it joins to the instrument there is a pin that connects the two together. First check that the actual internals of the instrument are being turned when the knob is turned. Chances our there is a disconnection somewhere. The only way to do this will be to remove the instrument cluster but it should not be too big a job.
