I decided to make it down to Maranello in conjunction with a business trip to Geneva and a vacation to the dolomites and Venice.

It was worth the effort and I thought I'd relay some funny occurrences.

Making my way from Chamonix out of the tunnel toward Milan, coming up the hill on the other lanes is a small convoy of owners for a late Saturday drive. Lot going on at that speed, but I think I counted 7 and 1 new Aston Martin. All the cars were pushing hard up the hill and I got to enjoy the wail. I saw a red CS in the group with the stripe, two 430's, several 360's, a 355, and another red CS later playing catch up maybe 10 minutes behind the pack.

What a great area for driving! I think I got a photo ticket in the middle of the tunnel with a nice flash.

Well anyway. I found the center of Maranello and really enjoyed the area and things to see and do. The track was fascinating with some good views from the bridge. There was no activity really.

A red daytona was in front of me on the way past the factory.

Saw a red testarossa just south of Modena heading for a series of new car dealers on the way. Also saw a brand new red flip top 575 superamerica south of the factory. That looked VERY nice.

Here is the most interesting thing though. I made some purchases at Ferrari's store and then went back to get the traditional front gate shot. Up screaches an alfa and all these film production guys run across the street with a boom mike and a lots of gear. They all had F horse logos on their casual clothes.

Then a couple of minutes later, down the road cruises one of the racing transport trucks. Maybe headed for Monte Carlo fro this weekends race. I wouldn't know but thought maybe the crew was filming the whole season, event by event and they wanted the cars headed out past the gate. see the attached quick grab photo.

Well anyway. I highly recomment the gallery, the shops, and seeing the area, especially if you have or will have an F-car at some time.

I was hoping to take a flight to bologna and try and get to maranello from there. I think I can get to modena by train. Anyone know the train routes in that area?

Bologna train station to Modena station, then 5 minute bus ride to Modena bus terminal, change bus then 20 minute ride to Maranello.

Thanks for the info..that along with some search results is great help. My son and I are slotted for a factory visit in July after seeing 3 Alpine stages of the Tour de France and the Ducati factory in Bologna. We hope to stay in Maranello for a night at least...not sure where yet.

    Thanks again,

    Chris

Thanks guys. I leave for warsaw in 3 weeks. I assume I'm in trouble since I don't speak any italian. I figured I would pick up a phrase book but I'm not sure that will be enough.
