Hi all, sorry if this is a repost. This June I am going to Italy with family and I am earmarking 2 days in Maranello. I am a Ferrari owner (330 GT). Two questions:

    1. What do I need to do to ensure I am let in the Ferrari factory. And to I need to notify them ahead of time?

    2. What sites/museums are must sees in the area given i have 2 days there?

    Thanks for your time,

    Dan

Yes you need to pre-book with your local franchise dealer - yes this is a repost - yes you could try looking for all the previous extensive threads (try search = Montana)

As Jimmie said ,you have absolutely zero chance of getting in the factory unless you have spoken to either your dealer or your going on an organised tour with your owners club.

Regarding the museums, the Enzo Ferrari museum in Modena (10 minute walk from the rail way station and next to the Maserati headquarters), and the Maranello museum are worth the visit. Ferrari run a regular shuttle between the museums and its worth to purchase both tickets at once and you will save some cash. Also, you can rent plenty of Ferraris in Maranello.

The Panini (Maserati) museum is between Reggio Emilia and Modena, and they have to be contacted in advance. The Lamborghini museum is in Sant' Agata Bolognese, about 20 miles from Modena. There are a few other museums, but I don't have the details.

Lambo factory tour more interesting than Ferrari! Try to set that up; maybe look on a Lambo board, or talk to a dealer.

Go to Pagani. The Enzo Ferrari Museum and Ferrari Museum at the factory are of course a must, but for me Pagani was the highlight. I will note that I didn't get to see the inside of the Ferrari factory due to me being there during Christmas week, so it was shut down. If it was open, I would have gone. As far as getting in, go to your local F car dealer and ask for the form to fill out. The dealer I went to was more than happy to provide it to me.

Anyways, back to Pagani. Pagani is a small operation and if you get on a tour, you are able to see the entire operation. When I was there about a year ago, Horacio Pagani was walking around the building checking in on the team. It was incredible to be so close to those cars and see how they are built. An absolute must if you are going to be in the area!

You really can't go wrong if you are in the area! Enjoy! Also, keep in mind that if you are into bikes, Ducati is in the area too.

I've heard that there are two kinds of factory tours. Ask if you get the real thing (going actually into the factory and see the production line up close), or the tourist version (going on a shuttle driving around the factory grounds and Fiorano, ending at the museum).

Just got back from Italy. The Enzo Museo is a must for any Ferrari fanatic, full of historic memorabilia from Enzo's past. The Museo in Maranello is also very interesting, right now there current theme is California, but I hear that theme changes every six months? As others have said, there is a lot to do in the Maranello/Modena. Have fun!

was just there a week ago. all above info correct and valid.
only thing to add is that you should also reserve at montana and cavallino.
the food in the general area is excellent, so look up some restos beforehand and make the effort to explore them.

    JM,

The last time I was there I found the Ferrari tour very 'canned & constrained'. The guide was just hired to do a job. The guide didn't seem to have much knowledge beyond this tour. He didn't seem to know why or how things were done, and he had to get us through in a certain allotted time.

Admittedly, I could have just gotten a better guide at Lambo, but the whole experience was 'freer' with good answers to all questions. It seemed that the time in all areas was only limited by the questions asked and answered.

Go to both, but if you only have time for one - If you're interested in Ferrari, go to Ferrari. If you're interested in cars, go to Lambo.
