Thinking of a name for the next GG. Any ideas? Number 11. The Swallow......after the little birdie? I crack me up! Sent from my iPhone using FerrariChat
This is no flaming good at all. We could possibly look at spending some extra time in these areas if we could find some interests that we all enjoy....... Injecting some of our dosh into these towns will only be a flypiss but it all helps. https://www.9news.com.au/national/drought-australia-nsw-towns-could-run-out-of-water-by-november/6f773e92-463d-4429-9b35-5fbb708b8e56
There’s really something wrong in this country when we stand around watching untold gigalitres flow out to sea up north every year (it was only a few months ago that Townsville was under water and I had to delay my drive home from Cairns for several days as there was no way out). Why won’t some political leaders or wealthy business group or whoever just get on and build a bloody pipeline (or two) from north to south?
I’m no expert (although I’m more qualified than Tim Flannery....) but a modified version of that maybe providing flow into the Murray / Darling system would surely almost drought proof NSW and eastern SA. And maybe something from NW Australia (Ord River / Lake Argyle) heading south as well. Geez, I read this week that there are $16bn worth of upcoming wind / solar projects on the books in SA alone. What a joke. How much would a pipeline cost, and what would the benefits be, in comparison? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just did a quick calculation based on a US study to build a pipeline from Boston to California ($2M/mile) and it's about 1,700 miles from Cairns to the Murray so less than $4B for a large diameter pipeline
NIMBYs The drawings are all in a drawer somewhere from about 60 years ago... Also ask who's bright idea it was to grow (irrigated) cotton on the driest planet?
This happened on a road we know. https://www.news.com.au/national/nsw-act/news/one-man-dead-four-others-injured-after-car-and-motorcycles-collide-in-kyogle-nsw/news-story/4ae3381603e0c17711598355ee789221
Just thinkin' of the GAD,does someone want to plan a route for the Q/Landers for this event. It's still a faaaaaaiir distance away and Pat won't want me to do it. If you're all planning on doing the slab I'll do my own thing as I don't get any value of that sort of distance by being a sheep. Just sayin'
