Waiting for photos of the Ford Falcon Ghia, :p
Thanks Moretti and yasmin, was bored today and needed some inspiration. Do you know what happened to the Ghia project? Would love to see the finished product.
My father had a XE fairmont Ghia ESP manual when new. Kept it less than 12 months. Says it all really.

In those days i worked for City Ford doing F&I destroying peoples lives.i always like the XE's,fairlanes,LTDs of that period, for a while i had a ex BHP Series 2 Caprice. That was a nice car .
Tristan, thank for all these pics, they just don't make cars liek that any more. No character at all. Trust Gil to pick up on the fins though.
No, in those days my family were fund raisers for the IRA in Melbourne. The old story theres nothing worse then a mad Irishman. had a few drama's when doing the mortgages, over the phone threats,id just say 'you my address what time and don't bring a knife to a ........." then ring up a few of my business partners mates they were for real hard men from Ireland .No one ever turned up so we would just go out to dinner afterwoods
Interesting that they don't seem to have the FIAT 2300S which was a Ghia bodied car, and you can see the Ghia style in all those cars, mostly a little weird Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
and? I was towing a single axle small open wheeler race-car.The Falcon was far better then the Commodore VH SLE 5 litre I had apart from the lack of grunt.
I never had an issue, went to South Oz for the historics several times and to Victoria harbour ,Winton heaps and 2 trips to Sydney. Mind you I travel on the speed limits,my little Brabham back in those years was worth more then most suburban homes.
Good to hear. We removed and replaced counltess BW 35/40 transmissions that had burnt out 3rd gear clutch packs from people towing trailers and caravans. They are VERY light duty tow cars if you ask me. The repair cost wasn't too bad, $750 for transmission rebuild and $200 labour charge. At $950..................the repair was worth more than the car. **We also changed out a HUGE number of VN-VS transmissions because of the same problem.**
Pap the car i had was nearly new not some 200k hos. I would have been towing about 1,000ks. Years latter i had a Benz 380sel,that was a great tow car. Best tow car was the Rangie. Image Unavailable, Please Login
New or old, they are weak transmissions. But I see where you're coming from. When we fit the new transmissions, we would fit a bigger front mounted transmission oil cooler. They would not get any warranty unless that bigger cooler was fitted. After the $1000 repair bill ($2000 for the Commodore 4 speed), the owners were more than happy to spend the $150 on the new cooler, especially if they were still using the car for towing. Rangies would be VERY suitable to tow anything. Enough of this crap in Tristan's thread. Back to pics please.
Did GHIA actually do any work on the XD/E falcons or was it just renting out its badge so Ford could shamelessly tack it onto its cars? Image Unavailable, Please Login
