Came across this today and thought it was sorta interesting. Who knows the origin of the term "shrapnel"?

I work with a guy who's a huge Civil War buff. He went to Gettysburg last week and brought in a souvenir booklet that I was reading through. He told me that while he was there he inquired about becoming a battlefield guide. They told him that they give a test every three years, about 3-400 people take it and maybe 3 are accepted. And if you have to study, don't bother. I've never been that into it, but reading about it really makes you appreciate what these guys went through.
