2004 575M. My "gearbox problem" warning light is lit and the car won't start. The "N" for neutral flashes in a muted amber color. Car is a dead as a door nail and simply not start. Lots of juice, lights blaze, alarms sound, but no start. Anyone have this issue before?

The battery went dead last week. It's been charged and is at 12.7 volts. Is this a Dealer Only fix?

    Gordon.

Gordon- More info on the battery. How old is it, how did you charge it, did you try to jump the car?

Does the F1 pump start when you open the door?

It sounds like the problem is the result of your battery draining. Why did it go flat?

turn the battery disconnect knob off. let it sit overnight. should clear up if your battery is good.

mine did the same and a new battery was the fix.

    Hi

same problem with mine. Battery flat, charged overnight and in the morning gearbox red light steady on, no sign of life, nor could engage any gear.

With the help of my wife slowly pushed the car and pulled on the paddle to engage the first gear. Red light went off and could start the car.

A new battery cured all the problems.

Battery is new - only two months old. It went dead as a result of leaving the parking lights on. Did not jump start it.

F1 pump does not sound when the door is opened? Should it?

I will try charging the battery to 13.7 volts and try to start again. (Presently at 12.6 volts)

I'll also try the "slow push" and try to engage 1st gear.

Thanks for the help. More as we find out...

Gordon- Disconnect the battery while charging it and then reconnect after charging. Then do a run cycle to get the ECUs back up to speed. Here is the FNA tech bulletin and an explanation provided by Vincenzo in the 360 forum. He explains what is happening and adds a missing step of accelerating to 4500 rpm.

    Thank-you gentlemen...

My 575 is up and running. I just need to do the wacky "reset the codes" dance!

With a fresh and fully charged battery, I toggled between neutral and first a few times - you could hear the trans working - turned off for a minute. Deactivated the alarm - and "whalla"
    12 cylinder sprang to life...

    I love this joint...

    Gordo.
