Got back from a long trip and wanted to take TR for a spin but car decided not to play along! My situation (car's, actually) is:

1.) Starts up but runs very rough-and very rich.
    2.) Idles around 800-1000 RPM
3.) Will not take throttle. If I press the throttle down "quickly" the engine hesitates-no RPM surge but doesn't die.
4.) If I press the throttle slowly and hold the throttle down 1/3-1/2 way the engine hesitates (no RPM) for 1-3 seconds and then slowly starts increasing in RPM, but very roughly up to somewhere around 3500-4500 RPM, when it seems to "free up" a little-but not much. Lots of coughing and rich exhaust fumes.
5.) I ran it down the road a little to see if it would clear up but no luck. While driving it has no power off line (1st gear), barely can get out of it's own way. It slowly picks up power and speed but has no throttle response, power or revving ability.

Haven't done any diagnosis save the fuel pump fuses looked okay and pulling the plugs off of the cold start injectors made no difference. I pulled each fuel pump fuse individually and it seems like the car runs worse (Lower idle and wants to die) when either pump is "disconnected".

Thats all I have done-too late, too little light and too little love right now.

Any helpful suggestions as to where or how I should look would be appreciated!

sounds as if it's running on one bank. Are you sure one fuel pump may be gone or bad ground. Maybe one coil.

I would disconnect one coil at a time and see what happens.

If it's a US version TR (KE-Jetronic with Lambda), and you've confirmed that you have spark on both banks (which it seems like you probably do because you noted that disabling each fuel pump caused a further power loss), the next place to go is to check if the protection relay is, or is not, supplying +12V to run the injection ECUs per the following "red wire" test:
