Who builds the best pickup trucks on the market today?. Id like to here from some truck owners here who have owned it and there personal opinion.

Also I plan on become a stormchaser pretty soon so ill definately need some opinions on reliablity on which is the best.

My vote for the best pickup is hands down the Dodge Ram, not because of the movie twister! Iv'e drivin them a few times even one with nearly 200k on it and its still on the road today. The qaultily and the ride is wonderfull. Plus there's plenty of other varariants of it, if you want performance buy the SRT-10 Ram.

They sound and look cool to.

I'm a Ford fan, and have owned a number in my time. But if I were to but a new truck today, it would be the Chevy/GMC duramax . It has proven to be MUCH more reliable than the current 6.0 ltr Ford diesel. Plus it has the Allison transmission, which is by far the best in the business. Dodge has had a lot of trouble with thier transmissions when people tow with it. If you go Dodge , go manual and it will work forever. Of all of my friends and I who tow good size boats through the desert in the summer, and enclosed trailers in the winter, the Chevys are the most reliable.

BTW Ford has scrapped the 6.0 engine after only a few years. That says about everything ya need to know about that motor. This year they introduced the 6.4, but I would not buy the first year out.

I don't like ford trucks but if givin the optunty to buy an SVT lighting i would because thats quick and plus its durable.

Durablitly is another issue that i would face because of hail, debirs, and god knows what else.

Reliablitly is definately on my top priority.

Ive driven 3 new style F150's and love them. My buddy use to have a durmax 2500 with a 6 speed alison it was fast and everything but I like the Ford super duty better.

All go against the grain and saw toyota tundra's n tacomas... They are relatively cheap, good build quality and really can take a beatin... they seem to last forever(the drivetrain at least) the same can't be said for the bodies though...

But if your doing a hardcore work truck... F-series... the superduties are top notch..

Ford. F150 mostly. Dodge would be right behind them. I've owned ford, chevy, dodge, and toyota. Pretty much any truck is going to be well built and go forever. My dodge was a monster (dakota) could tow and go very nicely. It had electrical problems though and the paint peeled and it (like most trucks) guzzled gas, and it wasn't even 4wd! Also the handling (like most trucks) was terrible. I wouldn't recommend getting anything that wasn't small with anything but a V8

If you're talking about diesel, I'll hand it to dodge. Anything else in terms of length of car usability would probably go to Toyota Tacoma. My uncle has a '99(i believe) with 211K miles all original everything except tires or course.

I've never seen a dodge or ford that looks a good inside as a chevy. But it all depends on how well a person keeps their cars for the most parts. I've never been a fan or dodge, and have always seen their interiors fall apart rather quickly.

My parents have own all sorts of cars from around the grid but with the luck they've had from chevy they're sticking with it. And so will I when it comes to a truck.

Dodge uses the thinner steel skin to try to save weight, also they don't seem to use properly galvanized steel, it tends to rust faster than most truck panels & paint fades faster than most I've witnessed The bed is wielded to the frame & I've never been a fan of that, removing the bed box on them is a major undertaking, other than that the Cummins diesel engine is by far the best on the market. Replacement parts are way over priced & very poorly made.

Ford seems to be plagued with mechanical & electrical gremlins, I worked for Ford years ago & all to vividly remember issues with various customers that had problems with a majority of that truck line. A good friend of mine that was a long time Ford owner ordered a F150 4.6 XLT new & the motor went out after 8,000 miles. Ford warranted the motor but went out again at 37,000 miles. After that he bought his first Chevy pickup. I saw many cases like that. The beds are bolted on & that the only thing I liked & parts are cheaper coming to a body shop standpoint. I had a F250 5.4 gas hog but my father is currently using it. The truck is pure junk & told him to sell it years ago but still drives it sometimes when it wants to run.

Chevy trucks are nice but also have a lot of electrical issues. I can't think of anyone that bought one that didn't have a headlight, taillight, or turn signal bulbs burn up within the fist couple of thousand miles of ownership. To me that was a sign of "here comes the electrical gremlins, better sell it now before the value drops even further." Also I can't think of anything good with the exception of the diesel engine & transmission power plant., but that is judged all in how you drive when you properly pull a heavy load. Parts are cheap & very plentiful for these trucks, not all that difficult to work on & are built fairly solid.

Toyota trucks to me are by far the best on the road. My only complaints are no diesel engine in the Tundra yet for North America & replacement parts are highly over priced. Paint fit & finish done very well from the factory. I know many people that own them & really don't have many complaints, FChat's very on Rob Lay still has Tundra. The new replacement model really impresses me & know they will do rather well.

Honda trucks, hmm I’m lost here. A full sized pick up built with Honda’s exceptional quality but only has 6 cylinder motor, no torque, a lack of full size bed. It’s for the urban city dweller rather than a workhorse. I haven’t had the chance to drive one or work on it but it questionable how rugged this truck really is? Only time will tell.

In Canada they arent. With all the cash back and low finance rates with the Big 3 I dont think its possible to price the same V8 Crewcab Toyota Tundra compared to Dodge Ram 1500, Ford F-150 or Chevy Silverado.

I've seen the new GMC Sierra on the road, and it looks really good. Same with the Silverado in the VortecMax trim. The new GMT900 platform trucks would be my choice, but I get my info from a magazine.

I had a tacoma that i 'crashed' last week... 06 single cab 5 speed... hit black ice on the interstate, spun through the median, through oncoming traffic and into the ditch on the other side... Didn't realize i had gone through oncoming traffic as snow was going everywhere... It also managed to get up back onto the interstate, which was surprising to me.

The only damage was that it broke a hinge in the door and screwed the window. other than that its fine...

My only complaint is that its dangerously light, the stock wheels are wagon wheel thin and wrapped with twizzlers for tires.

Granted i was lucky but it was abused and held up beautifuly...

Toyota L/C utes are what we use underground in the Mines. Very very robust. Trust me............we give these trucks hell!! :D:D They are the worst conditions anywhere for any car. The heat, the terrain (sharp rock and rocky terrain, not including potholes/hills ect......) the thick dust and deep water. These things just keep going and going and going. They get replaced with brand new Toyota's every 2 years. They NEVER break down and they only require servicing, brakes, suspension every 2 weeks. Brake pads dont last down there, neither do shocks and springs, but other than that, fantastic trucks. Used to work on the them on the surface. Have seen many with over 500,000km on the clock. Two I saw had over 600,000km and one had 724,000km. All original engines, gearboxes and diffs according to the owners. A few clutches replaced here and there I was told, and general maintenance. Thats all. :) Here is a pic of an underground Toyota we use. A 3 seater and a converted tray into a 5 seater. :)

My F-350 Turbo-Diesel gets it done. Plus, I had the crappy faux wood replaced with leather wrapped panels, had the crappy stock dash replaced with a black dash and HD insert (from the HD edition trucks), put in a high-end Panasonic stereo w/ Sirius and NAV, added some excellent Kicker speakers and subs, integrated a Passport radar detector, and threw on a matching Leer cap. Oh, and it has a Warn winch up front, KC lights in front, backup lights in the back, and a rear view camera too.

Check out the Top Gear where they destroy the old Tacoma and it keeps coming back for more.

A buddy of mine has 2000 Dodge Cummins with one of the programmers that increases the hp/tq output by ****loads. He can catch 3rd gear with 35's and run well over 140mph. That's some scary ****.

I wouldn't say Chevy's electrical gremlins are that bad. I know in th '99-'04 trucks they were notorious for burning out DRL's very quickly with the stock bulbs. Once replaced they worked for a long time. I had my '99 Silvy for 7 years and never had to replace the brake bulbs, or reverse light bulbs.

IMHO, there is no differance in the big three trucks. It's a crap shoot with each. I've owned Dodge and Chevy and a Ford will be next. You buy them, they break, you fix it, you get another one. One is no better than the other.

    Buy what you like.

I have on 05 SRT-10 and it's by far one of the funnest automobiles I've ever driven. The power and the exhaust note under wide open throttle is addictive. Granted, I get nine miles to the gallon, and I can't tow anything with it, but it's a blast to drive. I get more looks and comments from people on my SRT-10 than any car I've ever had. This thing is mean.

F350 crew cab long bed diesel. I've had nothing but good luck in all my super duties (on my fourth one).

I do not like the ride on the Chevy's (my father in law has one- duramax cab 1/2 long bed) and their mileage seems low.

    Have no eperience with Dodge

I have a 2000 Ford F-250 SD extended cab with 7.3L Turbo Diesel. Had some reliability issues with the Crank Shaft positioning sensor going out three times so far, and the front locking hubs going out(replaced with Warn manual ones) Good trucks. Used it for pulling the boat and dirt bikes. Its main purpose was hauling around the dirt bikes to different areas/tracks and it was perfect.

I just picked up a 2007 GMC Sierra and I have to say the quality is a massive improvment over the old one, and I thought the old truck was pretty good.
