The exhaust is bolt on and bolt together, the waring signs for bad headers is a ticking sound at idle and sometimes heat spots on the heat shields, these appear as dark patches. The ticking sound is more conclusive.

IMO if the car you buy has not had headers done then get them done as part of the purchase price. They can be done with the engine in place and is a job that can be DIY if you like.

another sign of burnt OEM headers is bits of insulation from within the header heat-shield spewed onto the engine/engine bay. good luck in the search
