I'm having a new trunk boot made, but before I install it, it looks like the front edge of the trunk curves towards the rear of the car. Is this thing bent and needs to be staightened or is it supposed to be curved??

That looks bent to me, but I am not an expert. You need to ask Rifledriver or Fatbillybob.

    Steve,

Do you have any pics from the side, mine looks straight when viewed from the rear?

I think it should just be slightly bent in the last 5 inches of either end; like in Steve's photo. There is supposed to be a little kink there on each side. The long center span should be straight.

No, I don't have anything exactly like that (it's not a typical "sales" photo angle), but judging by the illustration in Section 1 of your '78='79 US OM and SPC figures like this:

    http://www.ricambiamerica.com/parts_catalogs.php?M=FE&P=&V=diag&I=2219

it seems fairly straight to me (and your "bent" one doesn't look to be bent that symmetrically to me :( -- I also dont recall the wall where the torque bar mounts as bending forward like yours). I do recall the center being a little higher than the outboard 5"-6" inches as shown in this other photo, but I don't have a US '78-'79 308 anymore, so was hoping that one of the people who do could just post a similar shot. This is the only other thing I have showing that area from my-ex 308:

isn't straight or curved a personal question?

I straightened the front edge of the trunk and installed the new cover. Wanna guess what kind of car this is?

I hope the concours police don't see this.
