    Definitely a need for this.
    This is a trunk lid mounted contact point that is wired to the trunk's license plate light. Just like the mating batchboard electrical connector (aka switch, but it isn't really a switch) it is prone to breaking when the trunk is shut. The root cause may be the rectangular rubber trunk shims being cut too shallow.
