Our trunk gets quite hot after driving, i've measured >80ºC/175ºF at the hottest spot between the back panel and the floor in the trunk, and an ambient temperature of >45ºC/112ºF in the trunk space.

Any recommendations how and where to apply isolation to fix this? We have the factory rear heat shield in the engine compartment, but no heat shields around the manifolds as displayed on www.dinorestoration.com. My idea was to install heat isolation foil on the underside of the trunk up to the aluminium heat shield in the engine compartment, any idea if that helps? The main heat source seems to be the exhaust and manifold.

My trunk still has some green plastic melted into the bulkhead carpeting from one of my mother's suitcases.

Quite impressive! I'm thinking about adding the lower heatshield you have shown in the first image (039.jpg),
could you post the dimensions of the shield?

For the last image 'Trunk heat shield', the black item on the left side is the original component from
the trunk base? (I havent removed yet the plate below the bottom carpet, so i have no idea how it
looks below that). What is the white material you have used there for insulation?

    Thanks,
    Adrian

Heres an update, as a first step we have built a heatshield for the lower corner of the trunk, inspired by omgjon pictures.
The heatshield is made from two identical aluminium plates (1 mm/0.04") and reflective glass fiber cloth. The plates have a size of 48x26 cm/18.9"x10.24". The upper part is bend 30º and mounted to the lower rail of the service port in the trunk, the lower part has a 48º bend and is mounted to the aluminium underside of the trunk (no fun to fix the screws there).
The next step includes exchanging the fiberglass 'L' trunk shell directly below the carpet against a customized part made out of 1 mm/0.04" anodized aluminium. Will keep you updated.
