I have recently tried two methods of selling my Ferrari.

1)Absolutely full disclosure and information, with very little "spin." Detailed pictures, detailed copies of invoices, and factual. Things which as best I can tell from the folks on this forum are so important to making a decision.

    2) Now, I've listed the car with my salesman hat on, "glamour shots" only and very high bling-bling factor. Oh and you can bet that the blue interior is now the coolest feature on the car. Plus I state I can help arrange financing. The only thing I say about servicing is that "all the service is current, it's ready to DRIVE to your favorite hot spot!"

I've received only one offer, much below the market price, on the car listed style #1. I've got three (3) people interested in the car now that I put the salesman spin on it. This has taught me that despite what some of you guys say, people still look for cars with the bling factor turned way up, and they don't care as much about full disclosure as you think.

Moral of the story, if you are selling a Ferrari, skip the full disclosure in the ad copy. Sell the sizzle. If someone wants to buy the steak, let 'em.

Those of us in the marketing field have known that for years. Your plan should be to market (see: sizzle) the product WITH full disclosure. That is your winning solution.

Playing up the good points of a product is always a good thing but you'll have to remember that where you market/ display it will play a big role. Also price and desirability come into play, is it priced right and is it a "want" for a lot of people?

I"ve heard it all before. In the end it always comes down to the money. If it' s priced right it will sell. In my experience whether its toys and or homes and real estate. The seller initially always asks more than its worth. Just human nature. If its the pool that you added in the backyard or the new rims, service, or paint to the car. The buyer is usually not willing to pay for them. he wants the best price first and figures anything he gets on top of that is just gravy. A buyer will overlook a lot of faults if the price is right. He can always get it done himself later and he thinks better and cheaper. In todys economy there a just so many more of these idiots to deal with. They mess with your head and waste your time. They don't appreciate what you have done and don't want to pay for it. Best advice I can give is let the dealer deal with these morons and get a good nights sleep. Better yet if you don't have to sell .....DON'T.
