About ten minutes into the charge I start to get this click noise that sounds like the power locks trying to lock, and unlock, and the lights on the dash come on, then go off.

I worry I am doing some sort of damage so I unplug the charger. But I cannot start the car, as battery clearly not charged enough.

I've had a bad back all winter and so I did not trickle charge the battery, nor have I started to car in months.

The battery itself was replaced about three years ago. Car is stored in heated garage all winter.

I've done some searching online and can't seem to find our what the problem is.

10 minutes is not enough. Charge it overnight and it should start. If not, I’d say you need to replace the battery.

Probably just a low voltage issue. Disconnect the battery and charge it slowly for 24 hours. Or, better yet, use a battery reconditioner. Then reconnect and see what happens.
