Trying to find Chassis Number 05686

    I'm trying to track down Dino no. 05686. In prior thread I was told the car now belonged to Chris Borg. After contacting Borg he says his car is number 5685. Anyone know what happened to 5686 or any info on the car? Much appreciated!

    dino registry does show Borg as the owner...i wonder how that got on there....

    Chris Borg is likely a very nice person. I do not know Chris Borg, having never met him. I do know that he is likely confused.

    Dinos, with few exceptions early in the production series, were given even number chassis identifiers.

    I had a bad DMV read of my chassis number when I bought my car. Someone had taken 04504 and made it 04S04. No one found the problem until I tried to smog the car back in '86. Took an act of God to convince them that the car I was trying to smog was the car on the Pink Slip, Registration and all other documents. It is very plain on the car, three places. Three months of paper work got the docs to agree with the car. My theory is that a third generation of a copy of some document led someone at DMV to change the official number. Same kind of thing might have happened to this car. Ask Mr. Borg to lift the engine hood and actually read the number stamped on the frame, etc. It will end with an even number.

    John, that's a gorgeous Dino! Leave it to our California DMV to make life difficult.
    Shawn, what's the status of that early white Dino in your avitar?
