A local Miata owner has rescued what appears to be a Pit Bull mix that his family cannot keep simply because they have a full house of family pets (cats and dogs) that are also rescues. Here is the jist...

"Ok guys don't get on here a lot but figured it wouldn't hurt to post this up. I found a dog that's pretty small not lap dog small but small to me. Anyway he was most definitely abused I can't keep him and I've called every number I can find for shelters and they all told me no. In fact the one shelter told me worse than no they said ok well keep him for three days if his owner calls or shows up he can get him back if not he will be put down.

I fail to see the logic in returning an abused dog to its owner and I don't know who they are. By abused I mean previously broken ribs, old scars under the fur, starved and a chain was buried in the flesh around his neck, it took an hour to get it out . He's a very nice dog and he even seems playful. I know very few people here so hoping some of you can point me in the right direction".

"He's very nice and seems to always want to play. He warmed up to me real fast but is still certainly fearful. Another thing I forgot to add but I guess would be obvious is he is not house trained, at least it does not appear that way so far. Surprisingly though he listens to me if I talk to him he sits and hell go where I tell him".

Unfortunately I cannot take him but I have given the person several links for Pit Bull rescue organizations in Houston and in Texas but thought I would ask here if anyone can help find this pup a loving home. I realized long ago that I cannot save them all but I can at least try to help in some form or fashion.

    Thanks,
    Gregg
