SN 16857 is shown as a USA spyder in the Braden and Roush Daytona book. Though this could be an error in the book, what makes you believe 16857 is a conversion?
The Ferrari ID stamp plate on this car has it listed as Ferrari 365 GTB/4 which is a berlinetta isn't it? I thought the original spiders were listed as GTS/4. Am I wrong?
After checking around it appears that some other spiders have the GTB/4 stamp plate as well so I am apparently wrong about this. I had always thought the original 120 or so spiders carried the GTS/4 stamp plate. Well hell. I was hoping he mislisted it as an original. I was looking for a GTB/4 conversion.
Well, I see your point. The type clearly says GTB/4. I'm just not familiar enough with these to know if maybe all original spyders carried a GTB/4 desigination on the body plate. FCI is know to be a very reputable dealer. I have to admit you got me. It will be interesting to see what some others who may be more familiar with these say. Thanks for pointing this out. I think that when the spiders were produced their official designation was "365 GTB/4 Spider". The GTS designation came about later from the public, not the factory. John
