Ive had my 355 spider for over 6 years now. It came with a tubi muffler already fitted. At the time, it had stock cats but i changed to hyper flow cats a few years ago when one of the oem cats burnt out. But i was thinking of changing the tubi for a stock muffler. has anyone done this? have you been happy with the result/sound? does the stock muffler sound any different with hyperflow cats?

I wouldn't go back. But, I'm also curious to know if the stock muffler sounds different with hyperflows?

If you make this swap, I'd be interested in your Tubi. PM me if you'd like to discuss offline.

Shipment from Australia to San Francisco would be a deal breaker. If not that, then the import duty into the States would finish it off.

haha, when i posted, i didnt intend to get offers for my Tubi! haha all good. Since putting on the hyperflows, the car really has a loud deep sound, especially at idle and around 1500 rpm. After that, it smooths out nicely as the revs increase. it does sound good, but theres heaps of low frequency noise. i definitely think the hypersflows produce this effect with the tubi. You can really hear the difference when the exhaust fully warms up. Theres a hugh peak in the noise level at the 125 Hz octave band. i was at drive day a few weeks ago, and i noticed all the new models (f430, 458, cali, f12) were really quite at idle and then Pow, as soon as they step on the gas, all hell breaks loose. Even the F12 sounded very quiet at idle but around the track it sounded like a full on race car. I kind of like this effect, its a sign of the new car generation. I think the oem 355 setup was similar, but i dont know for sure as my car had tubi when i bought it.

Smaller prkmary exhaust pljs larger bypass gives you that more modern 2 stage sound. I prefer the old school set up without bypass. My car idles like a Corvette but wails like an F1 car. Works for me.

Funny this came up, I'm removing the Tubi from my 348 as we speak. Putting the OEM single can exhaust back on. Stock exhaust with Hyperflows should be just about right. Got new exhaust donuts from Autozone for 4 bucks apiece. Thanks Ernie and ND for the 348 parts interchange.

i had standard cats with a tubi and bypass wired open. It sounded nice, but was too noisy at around 3000 rpm or 100km/hr. I switched to a functional bypass valve (capristo) with a remote bypass. The car the sounded too tame with the bypass valve closed, so at times i would hit the remote to open the bypass full time. Then one of the cats started to rattle until one day the rattle stopped and the car suddenly sounded great, even with the bypass closed. Then, not long after, i got slow down light and cylinder bank shut down. I was told one of the cats was faulty, so then i purchased some hyperflow cats from Ricambi and had them fitted. when the cats were replaced, the left side one was completely empty. That was the reason for the improved sound. Now with the hyperflows and tubi, the car sounds great, albeit a bit muscle carish at idle. But when the cats are fully warmed up, the car has a really deep sound and sounds 'tuff' when driving slowly. It roars vary loudly under full throttle.
