Does anyone know how much Ferrari of Houston charges to purchase and install a Tubi system in a 360 modena? What about other Houston shops?
I actually heard it was quite extensive, a few hours type of job. I am not a handy man so I know I wont be doing it myself.
Who told you that, uhhh let me guess.....a dealer? Times like this I wish I still had my shop in west Houston. Look, it's no more difficult than putting on a challenge grill. If you want to get into the fine science of it search the technical thread but you will be surprised how easy it really is to perform on a 360, just keep in mind the job is only as difficult as you make it.
I don't even know how to put on a challenge grille. I just ordered one too due to arrive soon. I am "challenged."
If you do the Tubi on your 360 do the Tubi NGT I just had that and Hyperflow Cats put on my 360 Spider and the sound is incredibile. Martin
Roro, You are correct about the muffler install taking several hours- the car has to be in the air, remove the rear tires, remove the rear undertray, remove the rear fender liner splash panels, remove the rear bumper, install the muffler then put it back together. Ferrari of Houston is a good place to have the job done, if you want to shop price you might call Lamborghini Houston, there might be a good independent in Houston as well that maybe someone can recommend. I was quoted as from $1100-$1500 from a certain shop for install if I brought them the exhaust. Is this about right?
I would but I live in Houston. It would be a nice drive actually. I may consider that if I had the time. With work and travel, it's hard to find the time.
Roro, It would not be cost effective to send one of our staff to Houston to install a muffler. I don't know any shops in Houston other than the Ferrari and Lambo dealers - both of which are quite good. I would be more than happy to install the Tubi and the grill while you wait if you could find the time to drive to Dallas. If you want to pursue that route just send me an e-mail ([email protected]) and I will quote you a new Tubi muffler as well as a used one if available and the installation of it as well as the grill. If you can't find a suitable shop for the work in Houston and Dallas is too far you might consider Moorespeed in Austin (512-474-7223), David is quite capable and a bit closer than we are. He is also the only independant in South Texas who is equipped to fully service the 360's as far as I know.
Lambo of Houston is charging $1500 to install. No one at Ferrari of Houston ever returns calls (called over 10 times and left message for parts and service dept.) or answers email so I prefer not to deal with them. I think it is pretty cost effective if I fly one of your guys out. It saves me around almost $1000 even paying for their flight which is around $200 Roundtrip. I can even use my frequent flyer miles which I have hundred and thousand of that I never use. It will come in handy this time! Let me know. I will email you directly regarding. If no one can come down here. I will think about driving up there. I would rather not though since I'm not sure I'll find the day to come up there. I will email you directly to discuss. Thanks again!
Sweet Jebus! $428.57 per hour???!!! The mechanic is most likely getting paid flag time on a job that plus a tidy lil' profit for the service writer & dealer.
Even if flight free for you, remember, whatever mechanic flys down to Houston is loosing time he could be working on other customer cars in Dallas too. For a day flying down to Houston that should be about 8-10 hours labor plus expenses. So even at $91 an hour you are getting up over a thousand quickly. If you can't drive your car to Dallas for the day, where do you plan on driving it? The local show or night club? <just kidding>
shhhhhhh....don't tell James, our rates will go up and then we will all have to trade the Ferrari's in on Preludes.
