that is the question.....having heard 355s, 360s, 550s , 456 and 512trs with and with tubis, i wonder, why would anyone not get it on the cars?..it adds to the whole ferrari experience greatly as ferraris are asmuch about the exhaust note as anything else...my understanding is that ferrari puts monster heavyand quiet stock exhaust systems due to the strict euro noise standards and the fact that some buyers perfer their f cars quieter...my dealer tells me only 25% of people but the tubi type systems on their cars...dont the cars without tubis lose some of the what makes a ferrari a ferrari?

Nothing beats the sound of a FULL tubi system i.e. not just the rear box etc....IMO thats how f-cars should sound!!

Tubi's are not cheap.....£2.2k for a de-cat System in UK.I think most owners would LOVE to have one, given they have the spare cash.

If I ever purchase a Ferrari the first thing I would do is fit a Tubi. Having heard them on the 355, 360 and 550 they just sound so good and look nice too.

I read recently that Ferrari were offering the 360CS exhaust as an option for the 360.

The stock 328 system is already a bit loud for a commuter car, and when I added the Stebro 'euro resonator' cat bypass pipe it made the car much louder. As it is, I have to basically idle in & out of the neighborhood. I can't imagine wanting a louder car, I'd have to wear earplugs on the way into work.

For sure, a Tubi on a Ferrari is a must. I had them put one on my 328 last winter during the Major Service. It sounds GREAT! I get a lot of comments from people driving behind me that they need to get thier fillings checked after that... :)

I also set off numerous car alarms too.... :)

I might like the extra noise on my 328, but the deciding factor would probably be the noise during cruising. The sporty noise might be nice but how about long distance cruising at the speed limit ? is the noise annoying after a couple of hours at these speeds ?

There is DEFO a resonance on my de-cat Tubi @ 2-3 k RPM. Not at all unpleasant to my my ears but it might be a bit much for some.Other drivers seem to cup their ears as i pass ;)

Just installed a Tubi on my wife's 328. It is louder, but what a difference in performance. Felt like a different car, much more response.

Glad I changed it, the old muffler was big/heavy and whistled like a VW much of the time.

I just bought my first Ferrari - a 1986 328 GTS Euro version and it came with the tubi system already set. I am a happy camper!

My neighbor and best friend has an 1989 328 GTB and is miserable when he hears me start up my F-car. I think it will be only a matter of time before he pops for the tubi!

Driving down residential streets late at night is sometimes a problem - but what can I do? right? :)

    I vote YES for Tubi!

I have had a couple of 100-mile days in my car (since last Friday!!) and with mine, in the spider, I do have some resonance around 2,000 rpm. Fortunately I don't drive the car at 2,000 rpm!!! Cruising at, say, 3,000 rpm on the freeway it is actually pretty quiet, even with the top down, but oh Lordy when you grab 4th gear and hit it that is a whole different story! Very bassy through the mid-ranges up through 5,000 or so and then up above 6,000 and to redline it is screaming - just starts to pierce the bones in your skull at around 7K and then I'll shift....

    So no, not really tedious.

    Cheers
    Kevin

I installed a Tubi on my 355 at the major service and it sounds fantastic! It mellows out on the highway so longer drives are not an issue. The sound is fantasic at full throtle and is distinctive at normal driving.
    I recommend totally

How about the rumore plus option from Tubistyle?

    And how about other brands?

I am considering an upgrade of my exhaust system, so thanks for starting this thread!

Tubi is a must for Ferrari to be anywhere near Ferrari, but still Tubi is no Ferrari. To listen the true Ferrari sound, you have to listen to those Ferrari that made before these noise laws which was in the late 70's. Ferrari made before about 77 has greatest sound and that's Ferrari sound.

There are loads of manufacturers making exhausts. It comes down to personal preference, not just a video clip; I have seen videos of my 355 pre and post tubi, and the post-tubi clips do not do it justice.

Try and get to hear (and travel in) a few- what sounds great to passers-by might not sound so good from the inside.

To add my own experience, I have the Tubi back-box on my car. It is loud enough, I cannot imagine wanting the test-pipes too at this point as I think it might 'over-egg the pudding' as we Brits say.

The sound is just fabulous; much, immeasurably better than stock. But there is a big resonant sound at low revs (below 3k) even on a light throttle. I think one notices it because the standard 355 sounds so flat at low revs. I think could get annoying if you spend a lot of time in traffic.

But that is the only possible downside, and I don't notice it most of my driving is on open roads.

It is perfectly fine when cruising at 60+; no issues with annoying noise there, au contraire, in fact. It sounds lovely on a trailing throttle too- lots of pops and crackles.

In answer to your question; Go for a Tubi (or in fairness, another brand of sports exhaust could be as good, maybe better. As I said, personal taste). It has really enhanced my 355, and made a drive an even more thrilling experience. I don't think that it damages the usability of the car at all, and I am very fussy.

    Robert.

I haven't turned on the stereo in my car since I put on the Tubi on the 355 spider. Top down 5 to 8k rpm No better music in the world. Highly recommended. Just make sure the heat sheild is properly installed when you put it on or it may rattle a bit.

    Morning JP,

I haven't driven for any long distance with it yet, will be Sat, Aug 14 when we're up at the show, but it doesn't bother me, I love the sound, the extra power and the look.

It is louder so like it or forget it, my wife likes it quieter, but I'm sure she'll come around.

    John
