I have an 01 spider, came with a Tubi. I have not had it out more than 3 times and I've only been in 1 360 ever and that was about a year ago so I don't remember how it sounded. I remember it was loud, had a Tubi as well. My first thought was that the car did not sound like what I expected it to sound like, rather tame to be honest. Has a nice start up sound, cruising in it is pretty quite (top up), no drone and I can whisper to my passenger clearly. I did some research and called Tubi and they said that most exhaust sold are the louder ones and that I may have a stage one that is much more tame, slightly louder than stock. It has no valves. I went out with a friend yesterday and stood on the road when he flew by and it was loud but he had it revved out pretty good. I have been debating on putting a new exhaust on and possibly smashing out the pre-cats/putting new headers. Has anyone heard a quite stage 1 Tubi up against a louder version? The serial number on the can is 0000000838 but Tubi is not able to tell me anything based on that number. I am just disappointed with the general sound of the car, cruising and revving out, I expected these cars with a Tubi to be explosive and something you hear coming, well I can creep up on anyone. I don't want to buy a new muffler and have it sound the same, the YouTube videos are deceiving.

    Couple questions,
    1. Should I put headers or smash out the pre-cats? I am handy and can do either on my lift. How can I avoid CEL with either. What configuration worked for you?
    2. Any Tubi owners feel the same in the past and change cans with a big improvement?
    3. I am considering a Nouvalari Super Sport, or Agency Power Exhaust. I don't feel the need to drop anything more than 4-5k on an exhaust either headers and muffler or just can.

I have searched all the exhaust posts and watched every video. Thx, anyone feel this way with your 360 and did changing one thing fix it?

Chris... when I had my 360, I had the same reaction you did and, like you, checked around and found I did have a Stage I Tubi exhaust. Just louder than stock, but a nicer tone. The guy I bought the car from didn't want to attract a lot of attention. I swapped out the Stage I for a Stage II and that changed everything... much more aggressive sounding and a lot louder. I really liked the sound. I considered headers and cats, but didn't want to deal with potential CEL issues, so the bolt-on (cat-back) system was best for me. I was able to sell the Stage I system for $2500 which certainly helped with the cost of the Stage II system.

Good luck and remember that if you make your exhaust really loud, in a Spider, there's no where to go to escape the sound. Keep that in mind before going too loud.

I have Tubi on my 03 Modena and find the acoustics more than acceptable. It is not the quite version. As there are more than 1 version of Tubi would suggest at least posting a picture or going to your Ferrari dealership who might give you more insight. Removing the cats, carbon fiber air intakes etc will obviously increase and change the sound as you have altered the flow and you may or may not approve of it. I'm sure I know what you are looking for and that is the old Ferrari shrill. Tell you the truth have never really duplicated the sound of the 60 cars with the Ansa exhaust, no cats,Weber setups etc. Will never forget the sounds of my 72 Dino or my friend's Daytona, club events at Daytona . Intoxicating! It was not only the exhaust sound ,but the chains.

This is the Exhaust that is on it now, I don't think you can tell by looking at it. There is a badge that I can barley see at the front, Say Tubi Style, One Competition, 360, 00000000838. No valves that I can see in the tips, just pipes straight up to the muffler. I am just assuming it is the more calm Tubi version. How would I know??

I didn't realize that the Spider version of Tubi is different from the coupe. Sorry!

Based on the image, I believe you have the stage I.

I have posted another thread that shows pictures of all three different Tubi exhausts. If you search my posts, you can find it and use it for reference.

If you want to be sure, you can measure the width and I will compare it to the 3 I have currently.

The Tubi you are probably looking for for your Spyder is TSFE 360 C05.321.A -Markedly smaller ,less baffles and more expensive. The fact you read Comp 1 probably stands for stage 1.
    Hope this helps a little.

It's almost certainly your pre cats in my opinion. I have an American friend with exactly the same Tubi exhaust as me (mine is an 01 UK spider), and I was shocked at how much quieter it was than mine.

My Tubi is a level 1.

Cats do a good job of muffling!

I love my Tubi because it has a clean and drone free sound. I have heard that the Tubi NGT or other loud exhausts are significantly louder/raspier and drone heavily at cruising RPMs. If you are looking to just kick it up a notch, consider getting sport cats for a bit more volume instead of changing mufflers.

I thought messing with cats will throw cel?

Removing them entirely and replacing with straight pipes with throw a MIL/CEL. But just replacing the cats with higher flow cats will not.

That is a nice TUBI muffler. I have had one on my 2003 360 spider. You should keep the Tubi and if you want more power and sports car sound simply upgrade your restrictive factory Ferari headers. The factory North American 360 and 430 headers all have pre-catalytic converters jammed into the 4:1 collectors. A well designed set of headers will add guaranteed sports car sound and power in several hours. If you want it to really rip a set of HJS Germany Tri-metallic sports racing catalytic converters will enhance everything again. The net effect is commulative as all North America 360 and 430 cars came equipped with 6 catalytic converters and restrictive mufflers on the 360.

Your Tubi is nice but the front of the exhaust systems (the headers and stock cats) need to be unchoked so to speak.

There are Video on my Fabspeed Motorsport website showing all these parts in combinations on my 360 spider and other customers cars. These engines just want to breathe.

For that matter we have had Capristos mufflers, Tubi mufflers and Fabspeed mufflers on 360 cars..............they all sound much better than stock OEM big mufflers even with the valves open..............but when you add headers and sports racing cats to these aforementioned mufflers the real significant sports car sound and power is really enjoyed by the Ferrari driver!
