I decided to buy myself a Christmas present, a Tubi muffler.

I have one problem. There are two mufflers, the standard and the loud.

Does anybody know of a clip where I can hear a loud muffler on a 328?

In your opinion, what would be the best bet.?

    Thanks for your assistance.

The 'loud' system is really nice on 4v engines although for 2v engines I believe they are a bit boomy. Got for it and make a vid once installed

I never knew they had two options until now. I bought mine in 1999. Did I have a choice then or is this something new?

Who are you ordering the "Tubi" from as I am in the market for one also with "more sound"(loud). Nicks Forza Ferrari is where I am looking.

+1. I just got the only one offerred for my 328 back in 2003 or there about. It was awesome and stayed with the car when I sold it.

The difference between Euro and US versions with tubis is huge. A few Fchat friends with 328 Euro cars have a magnificent sound. My ex GF's 328 with tubi was loud at low rpms and sounded like a strangled animal at anything over 4000 rpm. Like it didn't want to be there. Not entertaining at all. The main difference: the cat. Go with test tubes if you can. It will make life so much better....

If you can swing it I'd consider getting the headers as well. The factory headers are really poor.

I'd call Champion Motorsports and ask for Victor. They are the sole US importer and everyone else gets them from them.

Euro cars have dual inlet mufflers, where as the US cars have a cat followed by a single inlet muffler. Even with the cat removed the car will not sound as nice as with the dual inlet muffler. If you can spare the cash, the full euro set-up is the way to go.

I'm not sure of the US headers can be adapted to the euro dual inlet mufflers or not. I'm guessing it would be quite a project.

I have the loud version on my 84' 308QV. I need to use ear plugs between 3000 to 4000 RPM. while the sound abates to a tolerable level above 4000 rpms.
Besides the noise from the muffler the firewall resonates adding to the ear plug requirement

I called directly Tubi Italy in Maranello. Euro muffler cost € 1783 ( for the loud) less 20% discount getting total around €1350.

The standard Tubi cost € 83 less.

I put a new Tubi system on my '83 GTS ago during its shake down time in the shop after it arrived here nearl five years ago.

There was no "loud or quiet" option. My car's decatted and dessmogged (legal in tx for 25+ year old cars) and the Tubi + test pipes was way too loud for my taste. Shop ended up fabbing small mufflers using motorcycle units and the sound's just right.

As I have posted before. I bought my tubi 20 years ago near the beginning of their company I think. The craftsmanship and light weight were amazing. I think I ordered the loud version but it is not as loud as i would like it. Of course it is about 1/100 the volume of the local harleys. If it sounded bad I would not want it loud but it sounds good to me. have heard many other good systems, but I like this one!

Thanks. the Tubi part number is 01028712000R with R standing for Rumore (Noise).

I've seen pictures but heard little to compare and decide.

Still undecided which one to get. Already gave all my details to Tubi, but still cannot confirm which.

All Tubi's have the "Competition" plate on them. The only thing that differentiate them from Standard or Normal would be the part number.

Sound of Tubi on my 308 (QV):

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=36G2rfaEpv8[/ame]

This is the plate. No "R" on it but it's loud enough.

US 308 '79, no cats, Tubi (not sure which one, old but recently installed on my car), great sounds. Compliments the whistling from carbs. etc.

It is pretty loud and I would not want to go louder.

Interesting note about the headers US versus Euro. I will have to look into that.

    btw,

that is my personal idea of what a ferrari should look like. the front view is super model good looking. the covered headlights ensured the cars looked sexy...the crazy headlights of today's design are damn foolish looking by comparison!

    truth.

Nice! Very similar in volume to my US '83 GTS w/Tubi; need to do some vids of my own to evaluate tonal quality.

Thanks for all help. I have purchased the Loud Tubi, and should have been shipped yesterday.

My 328 will be at mechanic next week for a new clutch, overhaul of steering rack and Tubi installation . I will record some clips with the Go Pro.

Unfortunately I cannot drive as I had a major operation however recovery is a speedy one.

    Keep you posted.
