How many people are running this set up... Tubi w/ test pipes? (Not Hyper-flow)

I have been running test pipes & installed the Tubi Thur. on my spider. All I can say is WOW!!!!!!

    Talking about F1 sound......

My wife said it's too loud but I don't think so. I LIKE IT, but it will draw attention your way.

    please post your comments

I have X-ost and test pipes. Unfortunately I have never heard the car run with them on. In the shop just finishing up the major. Will hear it next week!

I had the Tubi and test pipes setup on my 348 also. Wow is right. Very loud, and mean sounding. True F1 sound. The sound is just beastly.

However, the car was just so loud that I was getting pulled over a lot because it sounds like the car is going 80 miles/hour when it is acually going 10 miles/hour. Therefore I quieted it down a little by fitting Hyper-Flow cats. The car basically has the same sound, but a little muted. I emphasize "a little" because the car remains very loud -- it's just not a complete beast like it was before. I am happy with the extent of the sound reduction. I would recommend it if you get tired of the very loud Tubi/test pipes setip.

Tubi + test pipes are the ultimate way to go for the 348. I'm on my second with this set up ... the current TB is not however as loud or as high pitched as the Spider was. Do the later cars use different cams to help get that extra 20 bhp?

The Spider has a slightly revised ECU. It is still 2.7 Bosch Motronic, but they re-mapped the computer and gave the engine slightly different parameters. For example, the maximum engine speed was raised to 7700 RPMs from 7400 RPMs; and maximum horsepower occurred at 7200 RPMs for the Spider as opposed to 7000 for the previous cars. The horsepower rating in the US owner's manual went from 300 horsepower to 310. There has been some debate on this subject as to what the real horsepower is on 348s Speciale, Challenge, and Spider; but there is no debate whatsoever on the point that the US owner manual says 300 horsepower for 348s 1989-1993 while saying 310 horsepower for 348s 1994-1995.

Still, the tb should be brutally loud and high pitched. However, as we know each car is different.

I would start with eBay for some decent used ones. Save your money if you can; these things are dreadfully expensive.

Is there any way to cut down the exhaust fumes? I love the sound but my clothes smell like exhaust fumes after driving.

Test pipes with challenge exhasut is the way to go.

I have yet to install the challenge exhaust, but the weather here in the great midwest has got to thaw sometime. Can't wait. I hope it wakes the neighbors!
