Hi there, I have an F355 spider, and want a little more sound from the exhaust. Seems like every second ferrari I see for sale has a TUBI on it.

I phoned T. Rutlands to see the price for the TUBI, and they mentioned that for $2000 less, I could get an ANSA exhaust which did not perform or sound much different than the TUBI.

Does anyone have comments on this?

Additionally, i replaced the exhaust on my E46 M3 with an aftermarket exhaust, the low end sound was great, but in the higher revs, it sounded like a honda civic with an 8" tailpipe on the end. Needless to say i quickly removed the exhaust. I of course would want to make sure that i do not get into that situation again.

    Thanks for any input

I can't speak directly for the 355, but, we did an Ansa on a 360 a while back, after hearing the same recommendation, and I can tell you that both the fit/finish and the sound were atrocious in comparison to the tubi. My mechanic had to fully space one side because it was so crooked, and it was still off by a good 1/2". He ran out of options, and we had to leave it that way. In addition, the sound was imho worse than stock and lacked the rumble of the resonated tubi. Overall, I'd spend the extra, or at least shop for a different 'alternative'...as far as I'm concerned the ansa ranks last on my list of aftermarket exhausts for the newer cars - fuchs, tubi, capristo, etc would all seem to me to be better options. I have, however, heard ansas on older stuff like 3X8's and TR's and they sound pretty impressive - perhaps just the newer stuff leaves something to be desired.

I was under the impression Ansa was the OEM supplier of exhausts to Ferrari.

It says so in their colorful advertisements.

I have mentioned this a few times on previous threads, look in to buying the mille-miglia exhaust which is manufactured by a ferrari enthusiast in Melbourne. web is www.mille-miglia.com.au or similar (check google) I have one on my 355gts and was almost going to buy a tubi howevr Jerry gave me the guarantee that if I was not happy i could return at no cost to me at all and he would give a full refund. I have had it on the 355 for almost 12 months and I still get prickles up my back when I high rev through tunnels etc. It looks great ie slightly larger diametre rear pipes than standard and it looks great imo. Often have club members comment on how great it sounds. they are less expensive than the tubi and are in aussie dollars so you will save a bit more. regards Tony

To be honest, a Capristo sounds just fine with factory cats in place...A friend put one on his 355B and my ears are still ringing from the experience! ;) It is my favorite exhaust for the 355 now.

Ya quite right they do. Mine is a level one capristo with de-cat , and that to me sounds great. GrahamS from the UK section has a level 3. i have not heard it yet but that also sounds great from what i am told. You realy do have to listen to as many systems as you can, via real or videoS.

    2) Tubi/Ito/Capristo comparison

The Tubi is good but the Capristo is much better IMHO :)
