I've heard mixed reviews. Some complain that there is an unpleasant resonance at cruising rpms. I'm thinking of buying but would like to know if anyone actually has one and is happy. Thanks

I have no direct information on 456 tubi exhausts, but the resonance problem you describe was very common with tubi exhausts for the 550 when they first came out (although most described it being most annoying at just off idle, as opposed to cruising rpm's).
My understanding is that post 2002 tubi exhausts were adjusted/redesigned so that the resonance was no longer a problem...I know it isnt with my recently installed tubi.
Does this also apply to the 456 post 2002 tubi?..Im not sure, but wiser people than me might....stay tuned...

    David,

We had a Tubi installed on our 456MGT. The sound is certainly much better than stock, but still remains quiet (too quiet for my tastes). No droning or resonance that I can appreciate. If you make it to Southeast Texas you can try it out for yourself.

    Best regards,

    Ben

My 456 had a tubi when I bought it, but it was too loud for my taste. The 456 is such a subtle car that the loud exhaust just didn't seem right. Mine also resonated around 1800-2000 RPM, right where you would cruise in 6th gear on the highway. It wasn't bad, but on a 2-3 hour trip it became very annoying.

Basically, my feeling was that the tubi sounded great on the test drive, but after I lived with it for a while it was too much.

I went back to the stock exhaust, which doesn't sound as nice at idle but still sounds good when you get up above 4000 RPM or so.

I love my Tubi......but only when accelerating and in 6th gear. It does give you a headache if your just tootaling around town. I think the Tubi just kicks it up a notch!

I don't know why everyone complains about the tubi. I have it on a 456. It sounds perfect. That is the way a Ferrari is supposed to sound. It is loud enough around town and on the highway it is smooth.
My dad has a 550 with tubi. No resonance or anything. I wonder if any of these people have ever driven a 60's or 70's Ferrari?? Talk about resonance.

I'm very familiar with 60s and 70s Ferraris. On the 456, having tried both, I still prefer the stock exhaust. Of course, I use my 456 for daily driver stuff, so maybe that is a factor.

If you stand behind a 456 with a TUBI on it at idle, you can literally feel the ground shaking. You cannot have a normal conversation at idle. The same holds true at a certain RPM when cruising. I have not heard one with a newer TUBI on it. The one I heard was maybe 4 years ago, so TUBI may very well have corrected it.

I know of someone who installed a TUBI on his 612...........sounds very nice, doesn't drone as much.
