360 Spiders Wins for best convertible.... rest of winners is hush hush. SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- "THE Ride of '05" at Spike TV's AutoRox, the first ever nationally televised auto awards show. Hosted by Carmen Electra and Joe Rogan, AutoRox honored and celebrated America's passion for the automobile. The 90-minute show, taped tonight at the Barker Hangar in Los Angeles, will air TUESDAY, JANUARY 25, 2005 (9:00-10:30pm ET/PT) on Spike TV. During the telecast, Detroit's own Kid Rock rocked the house all night as he performed Cowboy and Son of Detroit. Legendary auto designer and race car driver Carroll Shelby received the only award to a human being -- The Icon Award - acknowledging a true giant in the auto industry. Jay Leno of the Tonight Show was featured in a tribute to Shelby. Special appearances were made on the telecast: Vivica A. Fox, Beth Ostrosky, Brooke Burke, Amber Campisi (Miss February, Playboy Magazine), Randy Couture and Spike TV's resident car expert, Funkmaster Flex.
LOL Good one. No he's actually an overwieght black DJ who has a bunch of muscle cars and SUVs with big wheels so they give him a car show just because. Not really a fan of Spike, but will def. watch the show.
Here's me and Funkmaster Flex at the SEMA show in Vegas. Boy do I ever look like an out of place white guy Be clear! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Not only that but I seriously don't think he knows that much about cars. He very rarely spits out facts besides "that's a huge engine" "she's running tons of hp, baby!". He just knows how to bring the car over to a tuner and tell them "slap on some paint and big rims".
I don't think you need to be hating so much. I like his personality and he definitely has passion for the cars and knows many celebrities.
Thank you for the heads-up. I'm always looking for some interesting shows on cars. 5th Gear is my hand-down favorite. Funkmaster's show "Ride with Funkmaster Flex" isn't that informative, but he does love cars, ALL cars, and there is a great episode with Wyclef Jean's McLaren F1 car.
I know it looks photoshopped but believe me when I tell you that it is 100% real. Trust me it would not be worth the effort to fake it Funkmaster Flex is an enthusiast but primarily an entertainer. I chatted with him a bit and he does know his stuff. When we took the picture I asked him to pose with the Flex stance and I then mimicked it. I believe his exact words were 'That's a good look for you'. Fair to say that I was entertained.
I won't be surprised to see cars like vettes, cameros, and mustangs getting far more attention than they derserve (which is any). You can't piss people off by telling them that compared to real cars like Ferrari's, Lambo's, Prosche, McLarens, ect. these POS's suck, they'ld loose too many viewers and piss off alot of hicks and muscle car fans, or people who could never afford these cars and need to feal like big men by nocking them.
The episode with Carroll Shelby was very very good. He showed tremendous respect,,, Dan - there will be an array of exotics...including something very special that has 4 turbos on it....
LMAO! That's one of the funniest things I've ever read on F-chat. He's a NYC hip-hop DJ, and a good one at that. Forza, Cavallini
Gallardo, exotic of the year, who votes on this stuff ??? Yes, Shelby segement was VERY nice, good speech too. I hope I'm still kicking that well at 82
Hey, there's more to cars than just the dancing donkey The PEOPLE!!! Imagine that, beyond the world of Fchat, people just might like the Gallardo more!
I thought it would go more into details, here are some insider pix.. Don't want to go OT.. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Gallardo as the Exotic of the year????????? It's not even the best Lambo yet alone able to compete w/ the other contestants in the mix (ENZO, Ford GT, etc.)
Saw one in person for the very first time last week and felt it was UGGG-LEEE. i mean butt ugly. Then again on that same award show Lambo won the award for Best Midlife Crisis car <LOL>
Remember that the public voted for the winners- nearly 2 million if I understand correctly- and when you think exotic, you think Lamborghini.
Hey guys, I might be in the minority here - but I thought the show sucked. And not because some of my fav cars didn't win, but because the whole thing was cheap. I realize SpikeTV is all about the man, all man, all the time, celebrate testosterone, arf, arf, all the time. However, if I wanted to see Carmen shake her a$$, or some playmate slink around, I would tune in to the Playboy Channel. A little more car profiles and a lot less T&A would have made this a great "People's Choice" kind-of awards. All that other crap just cheapens the event to an MTV'ish Spring Break farce. I seriously doubt the target (or even actual) audience was the 18-25 male segment. What about some carmaker profiles? Racing history? Motor tech? I thought the Carrol Shelby/Jay Leno part was great - but I'm surprised he even showed up (if he was present for the rehearsal). I don't know.....I just think they screwed the pooch on this one. Legitimacy missed the boat - bye, bye! Jim
