You remove the side trim in the engine bay and remove each ECU and mail them to one of Trev’s US associates (TX or CA). They flash the tune and mail them back, re-install and go. Easy peasy. Cost depends on exactly what you want to accomplish (extra cost for removing immobilizer/other customizations) but figure around $2k. Upgrade makes engine run better/breath easier/drive smoother. All factory safeguards remain in place.
Sounds like a piece of cake! Now that the car is all souped up, how much extra wear on the engine, etc. should this ICU upgrade equate to? Nothing is free in life!
That is a hard thing to gauge. But if you don't like to bring up to redline and sing the motor. Maybe not for you. All I know is everything that trev did on my tune is that the car works better then it left the factory
The reality is that none of us will probably ever put enough miles on our 360's to find out... I'm trying to drive my car as much as possible and I'm still only at 46,765 miles on my 22 year old 360.
You’re not really understanding this. The tune isn’t focused on performance. It’s focused on optimization and efficiency. If an engine runs better, more efficient, it will make more power. It helps if you understand how bad these cars are tuned from the factory. The tune is not “souping up” the engine, it’s simply allowing it to run healthier. The performance gains are a byproduct, not the focus.
Is there a video out there that shows a 360 with this tune? I’m very interested in improved (less delayed) throttle response. I’d like to learn more and see it in action. Thanks. /
I had a problem with throttle lag right before my throttle bodies went south. Replacing them with new units solved that nicely. The ECU seems to be able to handle a certain amount of degradation of the throttle bodies and compensates with some lagginess. Once the throttle bodies become too far out of whack to each other, the ECU gives up and starts throwing codes and going into "limp" mode, which is 20% throttle max. This is my experience anyway.
Thanks for your comments. I’m reasonably certain my 360 is running to spec. It's been well maintained (probably over-maintained) and I’ve driven other 360s and they were all similar. I'm very interested in what this tune can do for drivability. If anyone has a video of a 360 with the tune please share it! /
Running to spec is one thing. But remember any car can be approved. A ferrari is not built perfectly out of the box. Yes better then some But what trev has figured out makes it a whole new car. Its truly mind blowing how good my car runs and the level of power and throttle that has been approved. Well done sir. Almost at the two year mark and not a disappointment.
OK Fatmike. I had Trev work on my ECU's. The throttle response completely improves how the car feels. I could never get a smooth downshift in my gated car like my 911 3.0 litre. I even thought maybe my feet were too big around the pedal cluster. The throttle isn't so sensitive that one sneeze and you smash into the car ahead but completely changes how it feels for the better. Trev was also able to include the ferrari tuning refinements over the model production run. Two more fun facts, my 32k miles ign coils were weak and new ones completely fire the new spark plugs. And replacing the 22 yr old injectors made the engine run smoother ( all done B4 the ecu software). A friend (with a 992? turbo) test blasted my car. He down shifted through every gear as he pulled off the hwy into his housing development. EasyPeasy I really should send 360Trev a Christmas present this year........ Thanks. I've seen the one with Jay Emm. The problem is he's driving a car that has so many mods it's not really comparable to most factory 360's. It's awesome BTW - I'm just not sure how relevant. /
This other 360 also has Trev's tune and is stock except for aftermarket exhaust: Relevant info from 11:25 to about 12:50
Cool review. How do you know the car has Trev's tune? I watched it more than once and it's hard to spot the difference in the ECU vs. stock. The exhaust sounds great. Do you happen to know if the Klein is inconel? I like how these guys love the car and goof on it at the same time (as they red-line it in 4th gear at 130mph+). /
My experience was very similar to this. Downshifting was hard for me to rev match it perfectly before the tune. Now it’s about as close to perfect as I could hope. I thought it was my large feet also. Do it!
I have also been running with Trev's tune since Aug 2019. No issues. It woke the car up. Crisp acceleration, but lots of side benefits; No more of those no-starts because of the Immo, car does not need Cat ECUs or other problematic Emission control systems. Yet it passed Emission exams when required. Just do it!
About to tear my car down for its annual and my ECU's will be sent to the wizard for a little tweaking....hehe
Ok I’m in! Need the Spicy tune! And tired of running headers and resetting slow o2 response codes. Im in Houston…where do I send my ecu’s???
Ok it’s on— cs maf’s, lids, exhaust, trev tune. Finally doing it, After driving a 488 and aventedor this weekend… I’m even more stoked about my old 360. I’m just a sucker for the older smaller cars..
I found a pair of modena f1 ecu’s from a Kuwaiti car… I’ll use these for the tune. And put the oem ecu’s away.
Also do your homework on who does your tune, I’m hearing through the grapevine there are tuners out there…, not trev… but others that end up disabling ecu diag post tune. ( not sure if this is by design or a side effect of others tune ) so do your homework. Waiting on my lids and maf’s, then flash time, cheers.
