Found this on craigslist...says 1991 Turbo S. First, I don't believe the Turbo S existed until about 1996, right? 2nd $39.5K for a Turbo S (even a standard Turbo) seems too low. Somthing fishy here. Any thoughts?

Genuine Euro spec 964 Turbo "S" lightweight cars with 3.3 litre engines did exist........as did a handful (<20) of 100% legal US spec 964 3.3 litre Turbo "S" cars brought over by Andial for a race series, and later sold to private end users for street use. Hurley Haywood kicked some azz with one IIRC painted in the Brumos colors.

However, that is just a regular 964 Turbo IMHO with a few mods......did you notice that the ad says it has a "hybrid" engine ?......heh.......I always enjoy dealing with folks like that.....his ad text makes me sick to my stomach.

If it is OK mechanically and body wise, it may be worth looking at since it is priced well. The crunched front "smile" in the lower air dam is about a $200 fix. 964 Turbo's are very rare......and it is a rare color scheme as well, with good mileage being represented. You'd need to get an original decklid and whale tail as well as the correct "Cup" wheels/tires to put it back to stock ($12K with OEM parts.....half that with aftermarket bits that looked OEM). Doing so would increase the value and desireability substantially.

The interior is also incorrectly labelled as "Lipstick Red" which is much brighter in reality. What you are seeing is "Flamenco Red".......which was an extra cost option back then. Not a problem, just another incorrect detail in a list of many.

    Well done Kds.

The "S2" was a great option in the early 90's but only as few as 20 or so were sent over (as you mentioned, but this is not one of them) - and the base price was brought up substantially on them well over the $101k they state is on this particular cars window sticker ($99k was base price for the regular 964 C2T).

Anyhow, this seems reasonably priced for a basic C2T.

Thanks KDS, great info! I could live with the twist wheels, but the tail would have to go. Given low miles, seems like it's worth checking out.
