That depends on your preference when it comes to cars. The 458 will get you more looks, is not as stale of a drive, sounds much better and in my personal opinion looks better as well. Turbo S is not a bad car but rather an ad on to the garage rather than the highlight. I would make the switch.

A weekend toy or daily driver?
The latter would make the Turbo unbeatable, otherwise 458 will provide exactly what you expect from a "toy".

It is about practicality vs exotic drive... The 458 wins in terms of driver experience, looks, wow factor, race car feeling, special drive feeling and... it is a Ferrari... You can't beat that...

The 911 turbo S wins in terms of everyday looks, practical 2+2 seats, space capacity, ease of use, all weather drive, stealthy not much attention as Ferrari, parking, traffic commuting, can be shared car with spouse, great for long journeys...

My choice is this : Always have at least 1 Ferrari in you garage... plus a daily driver... If you can afford both Ferrari and Porsche, even better... Otherwise go for 458 plus daily driver...

    No. Absolutely not.

With the Porsche all the driving quirks have been ironed out. You can drive a Prius and basically hop in and be a great driver. It's also a car that nobody gives a rats about. Nobody even notices you on the road. Operating costs are much lower, it's bullet proof.. vs the 458 being more expensive...

The 458... everyone is going to notice you, and want to talk to you. It's a mid engine so the handling characteristics are much different. They refined the chassis so its better than its predecessors, but its still a high powered mid-engine car that could be quirky in the corners. If you have an "oops" everyone will be looking at you. If you get the 458 and can't drive it, i.e. pull a celebrity and drive the car at no more than 30 MPH with the interior light on so other people see you driving it.. you'll be labelled a poser. It's SUCH a double edged sword. *chuckle*

Other than that you're on a Ferrari board so.. the answer is YES!

Just like mentioned above, all depends what you're using the car for. The Porsche is, in my opinion, one of the best daily drivers you can own in it's class. From the all wheel drive system, to it's power plant you can't go wrong with it. If you're looking for more of a driving experience - go with the 458. It is much more of a raw, unhinged drive. The Porsche is very "point and shoot"...it'll do everything you want with minimal repercussions. The Ferrari gets you the attention from everyone in earshot, and will bite back if you aren't ready haha.
