I was wondering, can someone tell me if it is possible to reliably single turbocharge a 993 Carrera engine with parts from 930 turbo / 964 turbo / RUF BTR ???

Forget about supercharging or installing a genuine 993 twin-turbo engine !!

Can it be done (at low turbo pressure that does not require change of internal parts) ??

My guess is that you could use :

Exhaust manifold from 930 turbo / 964 turbo to direct the exhaust for the single turbo
    Single KKK turbine
    Intercooler
    custom pipes and ducting
Piggy back ECU that retains standard 993 idle characteristics and adds additional fuel for the turbo

It would be cool if this modification is also reversible , in case I need to bring back the car to original condition

Anyone that has done it, share photos , part numbers , cost and impressions. Was it worth it ?? RUF used to do it for BTR, but they no longer offer it !!

    Thanks !!!

Thanks, but the problem with superchargers is that if they add +150 bhp, they draw -50 bhp from the crankshaft, so in effect your engine is stressed for +150 bhp, engine temperature increases for +150 bhp, consumption increases for +150 bhp, but you only get +100 bhp !!

So it is not very efficient to supercharge !!

Plus , Porsche 911 was never supercharged !!

I want to get close to 930 turbo / 964 turbo / RUF BTR that were single turbo !!

I don't mind the turbo lag from the single turbo, it might actually be fun !!

You could look at Protomotive, as they have been making turbo system retrofits for 911s for quite some time. There is a bolt on kit that runs at .5 bar, and gives you about 400hp. http://www.protomotive.com/wp422/?page_id=119

The factory 930 and 964 turbos are CIS based and not very efficient. Some convert to EFI systems based off the 3.2 Carrera for greater power output, but those systems are a mishmash of parts.
