Can someone explain to me how to do this and what type of fluid to use and how often it should be done? I'm sure it's pretty self explanatory, but I'm going to ask anyways.

    Thanks friends!

Eric- You can only remove about half the F1 fluid before you start introducing air into the system. Do that a few times and you have a defacto fluid change, but have still not bled the system of any air. We change out half the fluid annually on mine and then do the full fluid change, bleed, etc every three years. Yes, we use a turkey baster. Helps big time, but no substitute for the SD fluid change and bleed at regular intervals.

I am so pleased with my new DX tool! It handled the F1 bleed like a champ!

Level is 5mm above the disk in the tank. If you take another baster and cut 1/2 of the tip back 5mm you can easily pull out fluid to the correct level.

I use Tutela CS Speed, but any good synthetic ATF/power steering fluid will work or Pentosin CHF 11S. If only doing half, best to stick with whatever is in there since different manufacturers' additives may not play well together.

Thanks for the info. How much should be pulled out when doing this? Ok, just saw a liter, so about a quart. Did you need to attach a hose to the end of the turkey baster?

Half a liter. Pull out a liter and you will be sucking air for quite a while since total capacity is only a liter. My guys use a hose on the end, but the V12s are set up differently, obviously.

With my 2008 F430, not sure how you would use a turkey baster to get any fluid out since the level is 5mm above the reservoir internal plate when system is pressurized and working normally.
Unless you were to depressurize the system and remove the volume of fluid above the reservoir internal plate.

Can you fit a hose in there if it was attached to the end of a turkey baster?

JG- With the cap off, no pressure. You just have to make sure you do not get the level below where any of the lines enter.

JG was right. You can't get past that plate, even with a small hose attached. Oh well, I tried.
