Does every state have the "slow driver turn out lane" arrangement that we have in SA? I was out for a spin in the Hills this morning and came upon a couple of grannies off to mass in a Hyundai. They didn't avail themselves of the turn out despite me coming up a kilometer earlier with headlights on. It got me wondering if SA is the only place with these lanes which, in order to work, essentially require a driver to admit he/she is holding up traffic .

so sad and frustrating that people either don't know or care that they're affecting the life of others around them.

living in the city i get a similar thing every time i leave home, people just stop and talk in the middle of the sidewalk in front of cafes, making everyone go single file around them onto the road. or fat people hold hands and walk slowly...

the rule rather than the exception is "go slow and take up more space than is necessary."

In NSW the slow lane is where you actually overtake ppl. I use the shoulder sometimes too haha.

The only solace is damaging the hearing of turnout ignorers by downshifting and gassing it right in their ear. That was my strategy today at least. :D

We fixed that problem in Brisbane... we have a sign at the arrival gate at the airport that says, "No fat chicks". I guess we just need another one on the border...

what the hell is a "turn out" lane anyway ???????

is that the same as "slow vehicles use left lane" ??

in Vic at least, its a small 'added lane' that runs for a hundred metres or so...to let slow cars briefly merge across and allow faster cars by

problem is they are seldom used....idiots only watch whats going on in front of them :(

and its a catch 22....if you sit back from ppl...they think all is OK and dont pull over....tailgate them a bit to let them know youre there, and youre a 'hoon' and they do everything in their power to STOP you from passing

got plenty enough power for 99% of overtaking needs thankyou PP :D

what you DO need on GOR is more crafty overtaking moves....or less brains...or both

best pass I ever did was thru a hairpin on wrong side of the road (GOR) - made possible because u can see whats coming for 400m the other way, up the opposite side of the hairpin/mountain

i think what you need to do they pass the 1st one, is jump on the horn and highbeams for until the next one comes out... they should merge then.
