Hey all, Lately I've been having these niggling problems with my turn signals. Sometimes they both work fine, other times the left side will only work, and then sometimes neither will work. Seems that they're both fine when used shortly after driving the car for the first time of the day, and as the day progresses, I get these intermittent problems. Generally, the right side needs a few flicks of the stalk to engage while the left side is usually ok. Anybody experienced this before? I've upgraded my fuseblocks already, didn't seem to take care of that problem though. I've also tried flicking my hazard light switch on and off multiple times to no avail. And actually, my hazards don't work at all! Maybe that IS the ticket after all? New hazard switch?? Cheers, Aaron '82 GTSi
I had a similar issue with my turn signals - I replaced the relay in the fuse panel with an identical one, I replaced that (when it didn't solve the problem) with a similar unit that toggled slightly slower, I'd toggle my hazard relay 20 times, etc. etc. etc. Finally I had it at Ferrari of New England for a few minor things, and they looked at it. Turns out, the wires on the REAR of the relay board were backing out as the relays were pushed in, and not making good connection with the contacts on the relays as they were inserted into the board. So check that relay, and check the back of the relay board as the relay is inserted - make sure the wire leads are making good, clean contact with the relay when its fully inserted.
Check to make sure the sockets that the bulbs fit into out there are not corroded too. I had that problem with the front lights once.
Thanks guys for the replies. I had suspected it might be something involving the relay board. I was going to stick a new relay in there, just in case (actually, I think I'll just change ALL of my relays). But I'll pull the relay board down and check all of the connections on the back side. It's very possible that when I was fiddling with the fuel pump relay a while back, I may have inadvertently pulled something loose. Cheers, Aaron '82 GTSi
Your issue is almost certainly simply a bad connection somewhere. So check the connections on the flasher, bulbs, etc. We can rule out he fuseblock and I would put the stalk switch low on the probability list as well. (Using it tends to keep the contacts clean because they rub against each other). Follow the schematic diagram starting at the fuseblock all the way to the bulbs and clean/tighten all connections.
