83 308 QV. Sometimes the turn signal lever will not go upward to signal a right turn. It will still move down to signal left, but appears locked against moving to the right Turning the wheel back and forth to operate the cancel mechanism usually clears it up.

I'm not familiar with the way the cancel device works, but I suspect this is the problem. I'm tempted to squirt some WD40 in there to see if it will clear it up. Can anyone advise if this is a real bad idea or not?

If your wheel is straight on, does it do this? I don't think WD40 would do anything, but I may be wrong.

    Yes,

It has only happened a couple of times, so I'm not quite sure of the sequence. I thik It happened after I signaled a right turn, and the cancel mechanism activated when the wheel came back to center. The next time I tried to signal right, it was stuck. After turning the wheel right again (I think) and back to center, I could hear it click and free up.

There are two spring loaded leavers on the front of the switch with the switch installed, it is posible the springs are rusty, if you take the wheel off and the slip ring then they are the first things you can access, a squirt of wd40 may help.
