...thought I'd put this here and post the car pix first to justify the post. We took a road trip from LA over the long weekend. Stayed in Lone Pine but drove up through various towns on the 395 including June Lake Loop, Bridgeport (Mono County seat and second oldest courthouse in California) and around through Nevada. Hawthorne is home to an Army Ordnance Depot - check out the flowers in the city park made out of bomb casings.

Came home Monday through Panamint Valley (one valley over from Death Valley) - top down, A/C on, 109 degrees high temp!!!

    Hope you all like 'em.

    Cheers
    Kevin

Congrats, nice to see people driving cars more than polishing them. I've only got 37,000 on my base boxster. Big thumbs up on the color combo as it appears to be the same as mine(lapis blue/grey).:)

    Agreed!

That's one thing Porsche owners have over most of their Ferrari brethren -- they have no compunction about enjoying their cars!

    nice pics!

Now that we got some Box owners gathered, maybe we can bust out some RMS jokes!

Out of curiosity, how many sets of tires how you gone through in your 60K miles?

Only got the car in Feb. (with about 53K) so none yet but the rears are looking a bit worn already!

Had the RMS done as part of my deal!!

Great looking car. I really like the Boxster.

How is the speed on the Tiptronic shifts?

Kinda slow-ish, I guess. If we get another one (or a 996 or something later) we will get the 6-speed. I got this car for my wife and she even thinks the Tip is a bit boring.

Plus I find that you have to be a bit careful because the steering wheel paddle-button-thingies are easy to bump.

However, I do like that you can have it in automatic mode, hit the paddle for a quick downshift or two, and then it will go back to auto after about 8 seconds or so. Great for passing.

    Cheers

Pretty good at less than 3,000 RPMs - just need another 100 miles of road to break the needle off completely!! Them TALL gears 'n' all....

We do enjoy the car and since it wasn't pristine when we got it we don't mind getting it out there and mashing bugs all over the front of it.

I'm having a "senior moment" at 43 - what picture did I send you? There's a few Kevins in SoCal - I have the blu/crema 348 spider. If its me then glad you got it....

    Cheers
    Kevin
