I'm huge fan of Harry’s Garage YouTube channel - he’s got great, insightful commentary, not to mention some fabulous cars that are not just beautiful- they get driven as intended by a genuine enthusiast.

This particular video, although not at all about one of our lovely cars, is about a fantastic Jaguar XJ-C Coupe. I’ve always loved this shape, in addition to the V12, but have been a bit put off by the floaty character of these cars.

How is this relevant to our 365/400/412 section you ask? Harry has recently done some extensive suspension and exhaust work (on top of a prior manual gearbox conversion) and hearing him describe the end result is EXACTLY how I would describe my 412 GT 5-speed: a wonderful mix of style, sound, agility, luxury with a magical sense of the car shrinking around you when you start to push it on twisty roads.

IMHO, he would have done better to just have started with a 365 or a manual 400/412, but I definitely love what he’s ended up with regarding this beautiful Jag.

    Hope you enjoy it!

I'd have sacked his roof upholsterer, that's rubbish.

He's correct re the steering,I had a S2 sedan 4.2 manual conversion and it was quite vague.

The conversion was great though and I should have done an exhaust job but the bluddy thing kept doing headgaskets so I bushed it.

He only paid $5K for the initial car so I guess that explains why he didn't go down the multi thousand's 365's are bringing.

Such neat cars. I had an opportunity to buy one ~20 years ago and passed having had the typical old Jag experience once before. Still kicking myself.
