Yep- I'm going down with one or two cars on Sunday a.m.

What time are you folks leaving?

I have a sinking feeling that we might be talking about the same cars and I don't know it yet....

    So far, I potentially have:

    jwise (308 QV)
    dpardyferrari (308 QV)
    PMDDMD (328 GTS)

Do you want to try and hook up? We are tentatively meeting around 7:15 at the Wells Transportation/Train area just off the 95 exit.

Sounds like it could be fun.

Yep, I'm planning on heading down with JWise etc on sunday. Working on pete0422 with his 308 as well. We should coordinate getting all together for the drive down on sunday. Would be pretty nice to see 3 308's, 1 328, 2 TR's and a Diablo all together!

Seems everyone's coming from north of S.Portland. Maybe hooking up at in the mall parkinglot @6:30am or so makes sense..easy onto the turnpike.

We called down there, told them we're coming from Maine, he said as long as we're there by 9am or so theres no problem, we're registered also. We've decided to meet at my business just off exit 8 (exit 48) at 7:30, this should get us there with plenty of time. Call me for directions or we could meet you at a different point if needed. OK, finally pinned it down. I'm in! I checked on the website and it looks like I can register at the door. What is the final decision on a meeting point and time? I'll have to call one of you guys for directions. I'm in Durham, about 30 minutes from the Falmouth entrance to the turnpike.

Mine's a red 308 with Maine plate: FERRARI

    Pete,
Sounds good. I just PM'd you back. I'll meet you at your house and we can ride down to Westbrook together. I'm looking forward to meeting you and also John who I've had some email conversations with in the past.

Should be great! I've had my car for 3 years and this is my first Ferrari event! I'm pretty excited and so is my wife. She's a professional photographer and is planning on bringing all her junk with her. I'll make sure all the Maine boys get a cd of the pictures she takes.

Tomorrow I am going to change the oil, the coolant and give the whole car the once over. This will actually be the farthest I've driven the car. Never before have I been on a round trip I couldn't make on one tank of gas.

Sounds like we are all set. If I miss you guys on the way down, I'll try to find you at the museum.

pete04222- just think, if anything goes funny with your car on the way down, there will be four or five cars with you to help figure it out!

Looks like the weather is looking better too....

I'm not worried, the car runs and drives fine. It's just that this is the longest trip it will have been on since I've owned it and it is overdue for an oil change. I want to give it a good look over.

But like you said, as soon as you pop the hood, there is 5 freakin' experts there to help you figure out what is wrong. :)

Looks like the weather may be taking a turn for the worse sat night/sunday. Short of a hurricane I'm still planning on making the drive down in the 328...any of the other Mainers still going to take their F-(or L as the case may be) cars if it rains?

pete04222- yep- I'll be doing the same pre-drive check up on Saturday too.
With the potential rain, I may skip the exterior cleaning....

PMDDMD- you are correct about the drastic change in weather forcast- looks awful. I'm in the same boat- unless it's really pouring, I'll still take the 308.

hopefully- see you folks on Sunday,

I guess I'll make the final decision tomorrow night. The forecast isn't looking good. The are calling for cold, wind-driven rain, heavy at times, with gusts up to 40 mph. Even if I was willing to drive the 308 in that, I don't really feel like standing outside in it for 5 hours and then drive home.

Figures, we finally get something good going that fits into my schedule and the weather turns sour.

Don't get discouraged quite yet..the following, lifted with what I hope is implicit permission from Doody's post on another thread..the weather may just hold out...lets keep everyone posted on the status of our Maine caravan.
The 328 got a wash and interior cleaning today..wax tomorrow in the garage if I have to...

    Guys,
I'm going to bail on tomorrow. The weather is not just going to cooperate. It is cold and overcast here right now and isn't looking to get better until next Thursday. Ah, springtime in New England. Even if I was willing to drive in the rain and cold for over 2 hours, I don't want to stand outside in it for 5 hours and then drive 2 hours home.

I'm leaving for work next Thursday and won't be back until June 17th. Maybe we could plan a Maine-based Ferrari event for the end of June? How about a trip up to Acadia National Park and have some lobsters by the sea? I'd be willing to throw it together if anyone is interested. And we could set up a rain date, sucks that the Tutto doesn't have one.

Too bad about tomorrow..understandable though. Given the discomfort factor, I probably would bail if I hadn't completely cleared my calendar for the show and just don't feel like being cooped up in the house again for another rainy weekend...anyway, setting up a local gathering HAS to happen..looks like we've got quite a few owners in the area...no reason not to get together! Let's talk when you get back after the 17th.

Why not start setting up something now? I'll start a new thread. Can anyone go mid-week? A Tuesday or a Wednesday works for me.

Well....The weather sucks, but i agree, i'd rather drive my car in the rain than be stuck in the house again. It looks like rain early then clearing out a little later in the morning, we can hope. See you guys tomorrow at 7:30.

BTW, I just put a fresh coat of Rain-X on my windows :)

Well, I paid the price doubly for bailing on the event on the account of rain. #1, it apparently didn't rain at the show! I stayed home and kept the rain in Maine all to myself. But, all's well that ends well...about 6 hours after eating a nice dinner at a local Falmouth restaurant last night that will remain unnamed, I came down with an apparent case of mild food poisoning. I spent the better part of the night and most of this morning commuting from my bed to the can. Feeling much better now, but I would have been in no shape for the drive down anyway.

I hope you guys from Maine (and everyone else) who made it down had a great time and share some comments (and LOTS of pics) with the rest of us less fortunate..even its our own fault!:)
