Did they say good things about the 037? I'm waiting for them to be as much as a mass produced modern V8 Ferrari Image Unavailable, Please Login
Definitely positive, Clarkson adores them obviously. It's mainly about how oddly Lancia treated the season, but I think it will help people learn about the car. Until you posted about yours, I had no idea about the 037, but had always heard about the Stratos. It's insane the 037 isn't known as well.
Last RWD car to win the world championship, but overshadowed by the 4WD cars that followed, not least the Delta S4. 037 is the best handling mid engined car that has ever come out of Italy, if not the world. Modern mid engined cars are dependent on electronic aids, difficult to drive at the limit without them, the 037 makes you feel and look like Walter Rohrl.
Walter Rohl and Klaus Bischoff said to say "g'day" to you Ian. https://www.speedcafe.com/2013/06/21/porsche-stalwart-recounts-the-golden-era-of-le-mans/ Image Unavailable, Please Login
I'm a big fan, genius driver, here's a great film about his best win in an 037. Car he drives for the present day shots was Markku Alen's in 1983. Brush up your german...
not sold. It's not going down in value so we decided to keep it and try and use it more, problem is finding the time. We were the 00 car for the Aussie WRC round at Coffs Harbour a couple years back and of course there are any number of hillclimbs.
I didn't think the FIA had anything to do with it. I thought Rallysafe was started by a couple of blokes in Tasmania who knew/got in the ear of someone at Targa Tasmania? Has it gone global?
I don't know the background, but that event at Coffs was the Aussie round of the WRC and most definitely had a heavy FIA presence - so I assumed they made the calls. Rallysafe's were compulsory for all cars and a PITA to install at short notice.
