Talkin' about Jews (other thread....sort of),there is going to be an informative,interesting and quite amusing programme on SBS tomorrow @ 830pm, about a mob of American Rabbi's who travel around Oz trying to round up some of the flock who've wandered away from the mainstream congregation. Outback Rabbi's. These bloke's are good value and have dropped in on me a few times in the past 10 years. I haven't seen 'em for a couple of years due to my debate on the allowance of Jews being allowed to NOT eat pork or shellfish...read PRAWNS,LOBSTER,CRAB !!!!! in any form, Well in FNQ that ain't gonna happen.
It was a pretty good program, although they took the mickey out of the rabbis a couple of times (car issues for instance). Although I'm not a fan of religion I do admire people who truly uphold their faith (whatever it is) and it must be nice for some of these isolated families to feel connected. I loved the old bloke in Ravenshoe pub who, when told there were at least 3 Jews in town, exclaimed "Well they mustn't drink beer then!" and the bartender lady who discovered she was Jewish when asked how she found out said "I had a rabbi walk into the bar..." Classic!

The film is sensational, the truth a lot more ordinary. Behaviour prediction is a big part of the software my company develops, you would be surprised how prosaic it all is. Our biggest client is one of the top 4 US banks, so I'm reasonably confident we know where everyone else is up to in the AI business. As for facial recognition being misused by governments, that ability has been around for a long time now. It makes us all safer, as long as we dont revert to totalitarianism by electing socialists
