A local TV reporter is wanting to interview someone at our shop if at all possible today. They want to interview someone who's been caught for driving over 100 miles an hour and got a ticket for it... for a story they are airing on Thursday on KVUE. It's a simple 5 minute interview with the extent of the questions going into why do you speed, what's the thrill of going fast, what happened when you got your ticket, etc. This person does NOT have to show their identity on camera. The story runs on Nov. 11th at 6pm. They need to shoot the interview today or ASAP. If you are interested, do not respond here or by email, call me at Moorespeed 512-474-7223 David Moore
I've also expressed this to the reporter in an email beforehand as this is extreemly touchy subject: Kevin, Also, any report of this nature would be absolutely subject to my approval. We do NOT encourage speeds like these on the streets. WE strive to get folks to take their cars to the race track to run their cars and I've built a whole business on taking customers to the track. I'm currently preparing 5 customer's race cars for an event in Florida which we will not only prepare them but transport in our 53' racing transporter and then offer full track support once we get there. WE routinely encourage customers to participate in "Driver's Educational" events to learn car control and speed at "controlled" safe events, not the street. With all this in mind, if you want to still do something with us, I would have to have a "SIGNED" letter from you that I would get to review and approve the entire segment if we were part of it...........no other way would we ever do otherwise. Now if you want to be constructive in your report and show how we offer the "true alternative" that is legal to speed junkies, then you have come to the right place. thanks d
Made a few calls but no luck, or rather... no one wants to really fess up to them. One individual with one ticket over 150, he didn't want to be interviewed for it, otherwise, he would have been perfect. I'd opt myself for a candidate, but I have yet to get clocked for over 100. I have had an apb out for me over several counties, and I lost count around age 22 with tickets in the mid-thirties count, but nope... nothing over 100. Doh! I'll keep trying Dave but probably not come up with much this late in the day.
Well I knew a friend who was stopped at that speed (137MPH) and the resultant DUI arrest, but then he was caught romancing the DA's wife who had the case! Last time I saw him he was in a cemetary rubbing pencil and paper over babie's tombstones, for a new ID.. He left town with the Trans Am, and the DA's wife in a UHaul truck.......LOL! Nice guy other than that!!!!!!
That doesn't count. I passed a sheriff on 360 at night going 170 mph.......I just pulled over and waited. He came up and asked, "why did you stop". I said, "I can't out run radios and I'm sure you are already pissed off, don't want to make it worse". I was programming a twin turbo with Motec and had the laptop in the passenger seat.....he saw it asked what I was doing.......showed him how I tune the engine and he said "Go home, and don't let me catch you doing it again". Anyway, the reporter would not agree to a written document that I had to approve how the interview was going to be used.....so I said NO WAY JOSE.....not taking any one of my Ferrari friends out of context. d
btw, I got a speeding ticket in Elkart Lake Wisconsin on the way back from the Concours to the track about 10 years ago. I was in 4th gear under full boost........21 psi.......... the car.........uhhhh.......Miller High Life Porsche 962C..........true story.........and if you don't believe me, ask Lew Bouchier, he has a video of the cop taking something like $600 cash on the spot from me or go to jail and 962 impounded. He got a ticket too, he was behind me........the other 962 (Budweiser) and Ferrari Spice (whom I was behind) got a clean get away.....he pulled out to catch them and almost made mince meat out of that cop car if it were not for dual brake caliper on each wheel and an evasive manouver..........I need to find that ticket and frame it on my office wall. d
Holy mother of GOD! Was this back during your days at Norwood Autocraft? Please post the video if you can.
No, long after Norwoods. When I had my race shop in Memphis for a few years. HOWEVER, I was pulled over in Highland Park in a twin turbo "speeding" with no registration, no license plate, no muffler, on slicks.........while working for Uncle Bob.........had a laptop in my lap. Cop asked what that was, showed him be keystroking the engine to rev higher and lower..........he said "your one of those Norwood boys aren't yeh?" Yes Sir.......get out and don't let me see you doing this in my neck of the woods again.....Yes Sir Best one, was when I was pulled over at gun point.....again in a twin turbo........twin turbo........there is something common there.......;-) I'll save that story for a tech session beer discussion. d
BTW, I was in a twin turbo today. Anyone driven the new Noble GT. Pretty good imitator.......fast as hell.........no tix today ;-)
Yep, Impressed with the car, not impressed with the engine layout, induction, exhaust, engine management system and install Could be SOOOOO much better, but then again.........it ain't no Ferrari. But what kit car is? But still, pretty cool. And hauls freak'n ass. Handles good too. d
He wanted "ticketed for 100 plus in Texas" I don't qualify for that. Needless to say, he wasted my time as when it came push to shove......no document insuring I'd get to approve content of report or how we were used in context................of course I told him adios muchacho d
David, I drove a Noble briefly at the Texas Track & Concorso. I wrote out my thoughts on it on the following thread http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=36971 My conclusion was similar to yours. It was a fast car, but when viewed as a whole, I found it a bit lacking when compared to my Ferrari. But is was a lot of fun. P.S. Thanks for the job on my car, its running great.
I just saw a little preview clip of the segment about 5 minutes ago. One guy said that someone was doing 205 mph on the streets of austin.
They initially asked me to become an installer, but after I ripped them a new one about how the wiring harness is built, how the cat is right off the turbo and against the fire wall which also has the main harness, A/C lines, shifter assembly, waterpipes....etc etc as well as not being able to get a finger between the turbo/cat and the A/C compressor and Alternator.....length of primary runs....etc......they may have changed their minds. What would be really cool is to find an old 348 drivetrain, put in longitudinal and twin turbo it like a 288......then it would be *****in......I saw a 348 with trans on ebay for around $7k a few weeks back....... Glad you are happy with our work........that's a very, very sweet TR Lloyd. d
