So, I made a low-ball impulse bid on a smashed TVR on ebay. Probably won't get it, but if I do get stuck with it, what's the parts availability like on these? I know the basics on the car, been reading about it on the web this evening.

    Any ex-owners, current owners here?

I've owned TVRs since the early 70s and I am the founder & past President of the TVR Car Club North America as well. I only recently turned over the running of the club, which I did for over 25 years, to another enthusiast.
I've been involved with the cars and the factory for over 30 years.
I can answer any question you might have about TVRs.

The running gear in a 2500 is TR6, so parts are plentiful there... and as MARQ suggests (and seems responsible for!) there is VERY strong club support.

MARQ: I have a quick question about the later cars... I know that the 280i was sold here in fairly big numbers, but that imports stopped before the 350i went into production.

Since the 350i is still too new to import privately, is it a reasonable modifcation to convert a 280i with a Rover V8?

    Thanks!

Actually, there are a few 350i Series here in the US. When the Bradley family was importing the 280i, I believe that they also brought in a couple/few 350i cars even though they weren't for the US market. I think that a couple have also come over from Canada. There was overlap in the 280i-350i production series; the 280i destined for the US market.
As far as modification to a 280i to put in a Rover V8, it's not really cost effective, but can and has been done. Actually, the nicest engine transplant I've seen in a 280i is a supercharged Ford V6. The bodies on the two (280i vs. 350i) are slightly different also.

Thanks much MARQ from me as well.

I had heard that there were a few 350i's in the US, but most here "quasi-legally".

I'm a big fan of the alloy V8; that would be my primary reason for wanting one... guess I might have to quasi-legal one myself if I'm to get my hands on one...

    Thanks again!

Thanks for the note, Bill. If you DO end up getting involved in doing that, lemme know and I'll be glad to help or at least steer you in the right direction as best I can.
